Does battery have to be charged in order to use with phone via 3.5 mm jack?

Nope.The headset needs to be in the off position to use the 3.5 jack, and the on ear buttons and volume knob won't work, but the 3.5 cord it comes with has in-line controls.

How bigger is the area covered compared to the G930 exactly? And how many hours more than the G930? (mine hovers around 8-9 hours)

My G930 had no issues getting connection from my first floor to my second. With the G933 I noticed a significantly shorter range (about 2 meters). Battery life is about the same, maybe a bit longer.I have spent hours contacting their support about these issues but have not had any help from them whatsoever.

Yes! Wired and wireless. Better yet, you can plug the USB dongle into a standard USB power plug, plug a 3.5mm source into the end, and it will stream that source to your headphones.This also works with a phone as the source, good for conference calls--though the microphone range seems to be a lot shorter.EDIT: NOT EXACTLY, with an iPhone. The speakers will work, but the mike will not. If the update to my comment goes live, then I'll copy-paste the explanation here; TL;DR you need an iPhone-specific headset cable (polarity on the mic portion is reversed or something of that nature). This is the exact reason that I needed a specific cable for my Bose QC-25s, so I researched the heck out of it about a year ago.
