Great bed for the money!
I ordered 2 of these hodedah captain twin beds in black. Both arrived reasonably quick and in good condition. Each bed comes in 2x fairly large, heavy boxes. the boxes got a little torn up, but out of all 4 boxes I received I only found 1 minor scuff on a single panel. It was minor enough to not even worry with. The packaging seems sufficient nonetheless. I was worried about all the comments complaining about the poor instructions, and 8 hour build time. Either they have made improvements, or I am handier than most because I found the instructions to be fine. There are a lot of parts, but it is manageable.I built both beds in roughly 6 hours total. I completed the first bed in about 4 hours. I had to move the 2 end rails for the drawers, but that was the only issue. It took just a few minutes to move the 2 rails 1 hole over. I saw a few comments stating the holes for the rails were not there at all. That wasn't the case for me. I just chose the wrong holes on the rail itself. That was my mistake regardless. After that, I jumped right into building the 2nd bed. It only took roughly 2 hours since I had a feel for it, and didn't have to study the instructions as much.Overall, the beds seem sturdy. For the price you are obviously getting all composite wood, but it has a nice look to it. Each drawer even have a hefty center support that makes them feel really solid. I chose not to screw in the mattress support boards, so we can access the hidden storage area behind the drawers. It's not easy to access, but it is a large area worth utilizing. My boys love the beds, and they have already decorated their headboards, and made charging stations. I'm happy with the purchase!

sturdy, but takes a while to assemble
OK, first things first. Make sure you have enough room in the bedroom to assemble this. You will not want to build this in a different room and move it, though it is possible to do since this basically is built in three stages-- the bed frame, the drawers, and the bookcase header. I just don't recommend doing that unless you have somebody to help you move it.Second, this came in two heavy boxes. Lots of styrofoam for the landfills, and plenty of cardboard for recycling. It is enormously intimidating when you start pulling out the parts and a big thing of screws and gizmos for putting it together. It comes with the needed allen wrench, but you will need a Phillips head screwdriver and a hammer for the dowels and little nails for the shelf bottoms and back of the bookcase header. The screws are self drilling so a drill is not required, but I recommend one to save time. There is a lot of prep in the instructions. Do it, or do most of it, especially with the dowels. They will help to hold things in place when you are putting them together. Once you get the bedframe together, that constitutes a lot of the pieces right there and the rest doesn't look so bad. Look at the instructions to see what pieces you need for the shelves and set them aside. You can do them last. Do your bookcase header next. You can attach the header to the bed frame, but I just squooshed it between the wall and the frame and it is plenty stable for me. If I ever have to move it, not having to separate the header from the frame will make that task easier. The instructions themselves are typical of a project like this. Lots of arrows and numbers and for a middle aged guy like me that doesn't see too well, they require some squinting. You will probably overlook something, but it won't make the whole thing fall apart. Just take your time, and make sure the holes on the panels in the instructions line up with what you're doing. I am moderately handy, and I did the bedframe in a few hours in the afternoon, and the rest of it the next day from about 10am to 1pm. It's a half day project, but maybe it won't take you as long if you read this or have a second hand to help you with prep.I've seen some complaints from some reviewers that the product was damaged or that it's particle board. Sometimes things get damaged in transit. Mine did not, plus I was careful when I pulled the panels out of the box not to bang them on anything and damage them. Yes, they are particle board, but so is most stuff at this price range. I can't imagine how much this would way if it had been all wood. The particle board is plenty thick and durable, and I didn't have any problem with it.

Horrible Quality
Horrible. The directions are HORRIBLE. It took us at least 6 hours to assemble. The directions are very vague. The quality of the bed was horrible. The paint/wood was chipped as we assembled it. Just horrible. Extremely disappointed.

Toss the directions
First of all - a ton of hardware that doesn't fit correctly, Boards warped (Particle pressed boards) - The main headboard had a crack down one side where the pre-drilled holes were ensuring the wood would split if anything was used on it. The directions are easy if you are good at word problems and not all the pieces are labeled. The ONLY reason it has a 3 is once we ditched the hardware and used screws it was sturdy and the drawers were reasonably workable. I paid for a headboard though and do not have one due to the main piece described above and smaller slats breaking in half when the thing fell over while we were trying to get the included hardware to work ( Prior to ditching for the screws)My roommate has a bed like this as well- he is ditching the directions, the hard ware and straight out building the thing. We're hoping his turns out better and has no warped boards when we open it.The only reason mine wasn't returned is I needed a bed and it was too expensive and convoluted to return. ( two large boxes and heavy )

Amazing for the price!
We were searching for a new bed for my daughter and she liked this one by the picture. It looked like a great deal and thought it would worth a shot! I didn't read any reviews until after I purchased and got a little worried as they weren't the best. The bed arrived in two boxes and everything was clearly labeled. The instructions were easy to understand and took 2 of us less than two hours to completely assemble it. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before the purchase🤣🤣 If you are in need of a great inexpensive bed, this one is worth it.

Good sturdy bed
I didn’t like the way the bed was handled in shipping. The seller was very responsive to questions and concerns. The bed overall could be a very well built and sturdy bed.
