The Bad: The first rod and reel came in a rather large box with no packing material whatsoever! The box is probably 4 times wider than the reel and about 6 inches longer than the rod. When you're shipping a large box, almost 7 feet long, it is going to get knocked around during shipping. With no packing material inside the rod took a beating! the tip was broken and the handle was bent.Amazon agreed to replace the broken rod and the second box came with just a small piece of brown paper in the box. Again, no packing material to keep it from getting banged around inside the box. Fortunately this one did not appear to be damagedNow, The Good: For the money, this appears to be a pretty good rod / reel combo. I wanted a rather economical set up to start king fishing off of piers and this looks like it will fit the bill. Reel looks to be well constructed, drag is smooth, etc. and It held 500 yards of 25lb Suffix Superior Mono.

Absolutely the best bang for your buck. There are a couple little issues. The shipping care was not the best. had some nicks and dings on the rod and reel. It does not seem to effect the performance. I Took this down to the pier for a trial run. I was shocked on its performance , in a good way. Could not believe how smooth this combo performed. I used 45 pound braided spectra with 30 pound mono on the size 20 rod and reel combo. It holds about 300 yards braided with about 30 feet mono. My concerns are small and go along with the price. You get more than you pay for with this combo. I would and will buy this again.

I haven't physically tried it out yet I just put line on there 50 pound test 500-yard I figure some people out there might want to know how much will fit it looks to be very robust and really functional as far as being on a casket for small distances

Very solid reel for the price, shipping could have been better, some of the rod eyelets were bending, had to find another reel mounting bolt as it didn’t ship with all the hardware. Equipment is in good enough shape, but the handling of this type of item left something to be desired.

Great rig for trolling salmon out the gate or bouncing the rocks. To light for sturgeon. Not enough back bone. Smooth drag system and reel. Loaded with 80lb PP braid.

The reel drag, spool, and handle all function incredibly smoothly. The housing and attachment to the rod are plastic but appear sturdy. The rod action is fairly sensitive for its build- strikes from small saltwater catfish were easy to detect. I haven't really put it to use on big fish yet but I expect it to perform well based on the casual use it's seen so far.
