I though I was buying something that was pre-assembled, but when it arrived in a flat box, I thought "No big deal; should be easy enough."When I opened the box, I found that the assembly directions were rather confusing pictures. There was a lot going on in each step with no writing to accompany it. I tried to plan it all out ahead of piecing it together, but I quickly found some issues. The the pre-fab holes on the wood were done incorrectly, so I had to make some adjustments.As I started to piece it together I found that using screwdriver wasn't going to cut it, so I had to use a drill. It left no room for mistakes though, because the screws provided were very cheap and the heads were stripped by the drill on its lowest settings. Also, no extra screws were provided.As I finished assembling the bookshelf, I was disappointed to find that the small triangles of wood that hold the books in the rack had split from the screws. So I had to glue and clamp them to try and salvage them since I couldn't just unscrew them (again cheap screws).After all was said and done, it turned out okay... much like what you would expect from putting together the furniture from Ikea for your first apartment. But for all the effort I put in, I should have just gone to the hardware store and bought what I needed to build it myself. That would have been cheaper.Do not recommend.

I don’t know if I just got a good one or what - but I haven’t had any issues with splitting or anything like that. Yes, the instructions aren’t the best but I think a lot of people are being overdramatic about them being ‘confusing.’ It was put together quickly and has been holding up with a bunch of cookbooks on it.

This thing was awful! The pieces kept splitting! Very disappointed. It had such high promise! 😢

This shelf unit is truly hideous. Very fake wood grain on pressboard. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find anything better in this tabletop style. On the upside it was not expensive, very easy to assemble (only one screw), and it holds books. I’ll keep it but continue looking for something nicer.

Love this for cookbook storage in the kitchen. Matches my rustic woodsy theme perfectly. It's very sturdy loaded with cookbooks.

I put it together and started loading records in it and the side split. I glued it but don’t know if it will work

You get a bag of screws, four pieces of wood and a one-page visual that poorly explains how to put the pieces together. You'd think it would be easy being there is only four pieces. But there are multiple holes in the wood pieces and no clarity on where to place the screws. The instructions were not helpful whatsoever.

I would go would with the gray. Wood color looks a little faded.
