You must read personally to enjoy

My review is not on the author's work of prose (although excellent in my opinion), but on the printer's choice of font size and book dimensions. For a novel to be 7" wide x 10" long x 3/4" thick with only 267 pages, is very hard on the eyes. With 60 lines of text on each page, and each line being almost 6" across (half inch margins on each side), it is very hard to keep one's place without using a finger or ruler. The span is great enough where the eye has a chance to drop to the next line. Then you compensate by consciously trying to stay on the same line. By the time you put the book down, you're rubbing your eyes and wondering why you have a headache. I realize many books in the public domain are available for free downloads, or are being printed using the least amount of paper and ink necessary so as to keep the price down. I get that. But I still prefer my paperbacks to read like a paperback, not a textbook. As there are many different printers of public domain material, I now drop down to physical description and compare dimensions and number of pages before purchasing. It still doesn't give font size, but atleast you have the opportunity to extrapolate.

No problem with the book. But, the older your eyes get, the harder it is to read. The print is small and the print is very lightly printed. So if you have a problem with your older, tired eyes, you might consider another source for this particular book.

very historical and excellent reading for history buffs

I'm not disappointed with the book, I'm disappointed with the "typewritten page." It looks like those books you buy from "Mass Produced" books that I never buy because of the teeny print. It should state on the description that the print is very small because I read a lot of books, Hardcover and Paperback, and this is not the Norm. Very disappointed so beware if purchasing this book.

He loved it! I gave him the book for his birthday we had talked about it in class. He teaches American History.

This book is large in size, but most importantly...it is the real book. I have selected various pages in a 1938 edition to compare to the pages in this book and they are the same. It doesn't appear to have been altered as some other publishers have chosen to do. Sadly though the publisher decided not to include any illustrations, the "Introduction", or the "Preface". (It does include the Concluding Remarks however). I would be happy to email a copy of these pages to whoever would like to have them. These portions are full of information and details of the time when the book was written. What a wonderful, meaningful book.

I absolutely loved the book!!! However the pages were way to big and the print too small! Both volumes of the book are here, it is 263 pages, but it is supposed to be about 500 pages!!! You can tell that the print is too small and the pages too big! I absolutely loved the book itself though.

What's to say, a Classic novel variously attributed with the cause of the Civil War and the abolition of Slavery. Only disappointment to me was that for a large book the print is very small.

I have read that this book has been held responsible for the American civil war. I am only a couple chapters into it ,but, I am starting t believe what i read about it.Great writing and yes a little upsetting content to this point.

Very very well written. It show cases every side and give the reader a clearer picture of the harms to everyone. Slave, owner, trader, children, northerners. No one is left untouched by this evil system. Read it and see for yourself.

And realise this is a book to send BLM people running for cover, into gales of tears and rage. It's a classic for a reason. The facts are right there. Read it and weep. Read it if you dare.
