Versitle Dog Fence
Great fence for my Cavapoos. Works well between extra-large doorways, stairways and can also be used as a playpen. Product is easy to put together, lightweight and sturdy.

Sturdy yet lightweight enough to move around
This has been perfect for our senior dog. She has balance issues and can’t see very well so leaving her alone on our bed where she loves to sleep has become a problem. This is how we solved it! Now we can just put this right over her without waking her up and have no fear. If she wakes up or moves around at all she is secure. I love that this is not too heavy to lift or adjust ,and it’s collapsible so I can stow it away very easily. I feel this could work for other uses but this is our main use. Would fit easily in a trunk of car or wherever because it’s foldable. I honestly can’t say if this would work for a bigger energetic puppy because Becky is 10 pounds and very docile. Assembly was easy. If you can get one for less (used like new) I would do that because I’ve had such good luck with that.

Workable
We adopted a mini-dachshund puppy at 8 weeks and needed a pen for her to be comfortable and safe in while we were at work and the kids were at school. For the pros, the crate provides a perfect amount of space for her potty pad (small Iris potty pad holder), water dish, bedding, and toys. The plastic is thick and sturdy, and the spacing of the bars is not so far apart we worried about her getting stuck between the bars somehow. We have both the click/snap style and pole assembly style. Both are very easy to put together and remove. I prefer the pole assembly style so if there’s a mess, you can just slide out two poles, remove the front panel, then climb in to wipe everything out (the shape collapses a bit), then quickly put everything back together. I appreciate that the latches for the door can be tightened for extra “escape” proofing. We followed suggestions for the X support and had no issues with collapse. We also purchased a corrugated plastic sheet (“Coroplast”) from Lowe’s about $20 for 4’ by 8’ sheet (we have another Iris upstairs in our bedroom) and made a low-sided tray for the bottom (search on-line for making Guinea pig cages from Coroplast and you will see how to work with the material—it is easy with a utility knife, metal ruler, and waterproof tape). The only con, which has to do with our puppy and not the product (hence 5 stars) is that our 5.5 lbs mini-Doxie who stands not even 8” high learned to scale the sides and climb out at 13 weeks old. I would not have believed it possible. I don’t have a picture of her escaping on the puppy cam, only her climbing. She is white so it is hard to see but she has all paws on the sides and her nose through the top. She escaped twice in the space of a few hours and so we implemented the second great idea from the reviews (lattice fence from Lowe’s). No more escaping.I would buy this product again. I’m not sure how much longer we’ll use it, since we’ll move on to crate training as soon as she is old enough, but this has been extremely useful to us in this stage. Also, this pen looks great and isn’t an eyesore in your living room. Our puppy doesn’t mind going in it.Hope this helps some folks.Update: Not even 16 weeks, and the puppy has perfected her climbing skills ... found she was poking her head from the top through the lattice and quickly realized this could be a really bad situation if she got stuck. So ... I zip tied wire grids (a la wire grid storage cube panels) under the lattice, then zip tied everything down. This seems to have solved our problem with our Houdini puppy... for now. The pen itself is still very workable for us.

Fine, but annoying
This is a great height for dogs, and it will likely keep mine from jumping over or moving too much after her TPLO surgery. However, the assembly was ridiculous. The instructions gave written instructions on how to assemble the door, and they made no sense. Just ONE photo of how the latches all go together would have made a world of a difference. Also, it requires a much smaller screwdriver than is standard, and while I do have one, most people don't so I think it's good to know. The panels themselves are nice. They're sturdy plastic, and I like that it came with the rubber pads on the bottom. They were easy to slide together. The dog door, however, is only suited for small or maybe medium dogs. While the panel height would indicate it's a big-dog friendly product, don't expect to be able to use the door. As such, I can't attach the last two panels or we can't get her in and out. That works fine for us because we assembled ours to be up against a wall, and she's too scared of it falling on her to test boundaries. However, it does make it much less stable. Just something you should know! I also like that you don't have to use all the panels. We were able to adjust based on her particular needs.

This is my third playpen
I purchased the first playpen 6 years ago for a new puppy. It was wonderful, it looks good (still, after 6 years) altho I no longer use it as a playpen, it is great shape and has held up perfectly, no cracking or fading, no disintegration, etc. I am super pleased with the quality of this Made in the the USA product. This year, I wanted to keep my dogs out of my garden while I was gone, but I didn't want permanent fencing or gates. I had the original playpen, that can also be used as a fence, (sort of) without permanently attaching it. But it wasn't quite long enough, so I ordered another that is EXACTLY the same as the original!! I love that!! So, I connected the two, which I must say lined up perfectly and created the fence to keep the dogs from my garden. I was so happy to be able to do this with minimal cost, compared to permanent fencing. The only downside of this product is you have to disassemble every other panel for it to fold and put away... otherwise there is no real problems with any aspect of this playpen or in my case, fence. When I received the playpen, two of the end caps on the connecting rods were broken. I contacted IRIS USA re: replacement on friday, 2 business days ago, they have already responded, apologized, and are going to replace the 2 end caps. Within a week, I not only had the replacement caps, but they also sent extra connecting rods with ends attached. You couldn't ask for better or faster customer service. Thanks Rebecca.I would 10 out of 10 recommend this product and will buy again if necessary.Thank you IRIS for the quality product.
