ESPN College Football Encyclopedia: The Complete History of the Game

I got this book having only followed College Football for about a month and a half. I have found it invaluable-the profiles of each team are excellent, and have allowed me to instantly get a flavour of the traditions, lore and stories behind each team. I think that those who have followed the sport for longer may find that they know this stuff already, and so will hop straight to the stats. These are also well covered, but apparently there are some errors in these (I wouldn't know!). It covers every division 1-A's seasons up to the end of 2004, and there is a special section on the Bowl games as well. Ultimately you will probably get the most from this if you are new to the sport, but the articles provide interesting reading for fans at any level. Generally, a good buy for any College Football fans, but especially those who's knowledge of the sport is still growing.

This is a huge volume and at first felt a little daunting to someone who has only recently come across College Fottball, but I have to say you are eased into the history and the issue that surround this historic game from the many contributors from ESPN.The start of the book is made up of a series of articles about the game special mention for Beano Cook who after putting his top ten moments in college football, tghen does a follow up articles with another 40 plus, I listen to Beano &n Ivan on the ESPN podcast and they know it all from day one and they love the sport.The main part of the book focuses on the teams and explains every teams ups & downs there best ever players and games even fighting songs and gives you the results of all games played upto the end of 2004.If you are interested in the college game & want to know the rich history, the teams and the personalities that shaped it, this is the book for you.
