Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas

I love this movie so glad it finally came out on blu ray

These Jim Henson puppets are beautifully dressed as Tennessee country folk otters, foxes, porcupines, muskrats and other talking, singing animals. The otter family is down on their luck but they hope to win a prize in the Christmas talent show. The theme is “working together “ propelled by the spirit of kindness. Fun jug band tunes and sensitive , melodic ballads. This is memorable and entertaining for children and adults alike. An annual treat!

A kind and touching story about love and friendship that all generations can enjoy. I am a longtime fan of all things Muppets so this movie provides me with warm memories.

This is a great Christmas movie. Teaches a valuable lesson. I think this movie didnt get the credit it deserved. I will say my 2 year old loved it!

This sweet little puppet film will become a favorite instantly. I watched it with my kids when they were young & now I watch it because I love the sweet story.

This was one of my favorite movies as a child! Watching it takes me back to a more innocent time, the 80’s!! I will watch it every Christmas to travel back in time each year! Love this movie!!

To have the version that I got to watch when I was a kid!!!

I admire the fact that Many Emmet Otter fans dont want to buy this DVD because of the fact that, once again, money comes before art, due to the fact that the Kermit scenes are cut from this version. I agree. Kermit should be in here, and money shouldnt be an issue...the loyal fans should be the top consideration. Having said that, i want All Emmet Otter fans to know that they MUST watch this DVD. If you dont want to buy it, then please atleast rent it. The behind the scenes documentary is fabulous, and it's almost as good as the actual show itself! You get to see interviews with the actual people that "puppeted" or in this case "Muppeted" Emmet and some of the other characters. You get to see behind the scenes footage of the people on the set doing their work. Jim Henson's daughter is one of the primary interviewees, detailing her father's special devotion to the Emmet Otter story and to making it come alive in this special. You get to see and hear from the people who made the actual Puppets/Muppets, and you also get to see how they got Emmet to row the boat on the River that flows through Frogtown Hollow. You get to hear an exclusive excerpt of a song that was going to be used in the special, but which was later deleted and never used. Also there are funny "Bloopers", a "sing-along", clips of the musical segments of the show, and of course the behind the scenes documentary. Emmet Fans, trust me, a fellow Emmet fan, you owe it to yourself to see that documentary. It gives you a new appreciation for all of the work that it took to make Emmet come alive. You will love the documentary, plus it's pretty long, and is full of info, interviews, never before seen footage, clips from the show, etc Dont rob yourself of the chance to see this great documentary. If you do, the money seekers who edited Kermit out of this will win, because they get their money and you miss out on enjoying the documentary. Please, watch the documentary. All Emmet Otter fans owe it to themselves to see it. I thought of you all when i watched the DVD, and I felt sad that you didnt see the documentary. It is nearly as good as the Emmet show itself. Please, watch it, and have fun. This DVD enriches the Emmet Otter experience. By all means, watch the version on DVD with Kermit still in it, but please get this DVD version for the bonus features. For the bonuses alone, it is worth it. Long live Emmet Otter! We want a sequel!

If you're not an idiot you would realise before you bought this that it would be the wrong region for the UK & not play, this is not the sellers fault, I was just desperate for some otter action & my judgement was clouded.I did manage to see this film in the end & I'm ngl, it's no Muppet Christmas Carol but I still enjoyed it.Tbf if it didn't have otters in it I'd probably only rate it a 3, it's not the best but there are some catchy little numbers in it.Basically, I liked the otters but spoiler alert....... they aren't even real!!!!

Emmet Otter's JBC is a wonderful charming story about a poor but upbeat otter widow and her son, who decide to enter the local talent contest in order to buy each other a nice christmas present. There are great quirky characters and amazing music throughout (Paul Williams take a bow - I feel like I knew the songs for years after just a couple of listens. I especially love Bar-b-que with Harvey Beaver rocking it on washboard and kazoo!). I actually think it's the best thing that Jim Henson has ever done, and I never thought I'd see anything of his that would beat a muppet family christmas for heart-warming story, music and charm, but Emmet just shades it. There is a very entertaining hour-long documentary included on this dvd, as well as some very funny out-takes and deleted scenes. I wish I could give this 10 stars!

This film reminds me of when I was a child, watching it with my parents, and reminds me of wonderful family christmases. The only downside is this DVD doesn't have Kermit the Frog on, introducing it, which the original tv show and video did. Still, a wonderful family film and a firm christmas favourite in our house. It would take someone with a heart of stone not to love this!

I've been watching this Christmas special since I was a child (in other words...for a very long time!!). When I was young it came on HBO every Christmas season and I would watch it every chance I got but now I own it and can watch it as often as I want to! I have all the songs memorised. In another couple of months I'll be sharing it with my own child for the first time and I can hardly wait as I'm sure she'll love it as much as I did and still do! It's so family orientated and just plain feel good fun. It's for all ages and with the huge variety of characters there's certain to be a favourite one for everyone!

We were unable to play because the DVD is the wrong region for the UK - we were unaware of any problem beforehand and made a disappointing looked-forward-to Christmas present. Hopefully, we can find a way of rectifying the issue.
