Great Overall Protection, But Screen Protector Limits Touch Sensitivity and Touch ID sensor
I've had numerous cases for my various Apple products and especially for my iPhones, from the slimmest to the most bulky. As I find I'm increasingly handing over my iPhone 6 Plus to my toddler sometimes, I decided to buy what I've researched to be one of the most reputable cases out there--this OtterBox Defender. I've also used the Griffin Survivor cases as well as had experience with the LifeProof Fre. The Survivor's okay but my toddler's a drooler and more often than not his drool ends up getting into the case between the screen cover and the screen. It ended up being a pain to constantly take apart the Survivor case to wipe off the wetness. The LifeProof Fre, while waterproof, is more expensive and was a bit of an overkill for protection for my needs. This Otterbox Defender fits right in between, not too much and not too little. And I really like the rubbery feel of the outside of the case--very grippy and easy to hold on to. All the ports are accessible, and the buttons that cover the volume and on/off controls work fine. The screen protector is nearly invisible and can be wiped clean easily. The case is pretty indestructible. My iPhone has been dropped unintentionally as well as thrown down intentionally onto concrete and other very hard surfaces many many many times...still doesn't have a scratch, dent, crack, nothing! The iPhone is still like brand-new. So is the case itself. I usually sell or trade in my iPhones when I'm ready to upgrade so I want to keep this iPhone ready in its like brand new condition for my next upgrade cycle, or keep it for my kids to use, or as a backup phone. This Otterbox Defender will certainly keep it brand new. It is like armor! But now for the negatives. The screen protector, while nearly invisible, interferes too much with touch sensitivity. I have used many cases without a screen protector and well, obviously you just can't beat having nothing between the screen and your fingertips when it comes to touch sensitivity. I find myself having to press a little bit harder for my touch to register sometimes, especially towards the edges of the screen. It is annoying, but I figure that it's a price to pay for the extra protection. Also, and this is the most annoying negative--the fingerprint sensor is not reliable at all. As part of the protection there is a clear cover over the home button, supposedly so the Touch ID can still be used. But I constantly have to re-enter my fingerprints for it to work. It goes in cycles--I'll input my fingerprints, it will work for a few days (a week if I'm lucky), then it will stop recognizing my fingerprints and I'll have to repeat the process. Honestly I just end up using the passcode instead. But I really miss the convenience of the Touch ID not just to bypass having to enter the passcode, but also for accessing bank apps and other apps instead of having to type in passwords. Again, I just view it as a price to pay for the good overall protection the Otterbox Defender offers.I gave this a 4/5 stars because the Otterbox Defender does the job--it seriously protects my iPhone from the worst drops and toddler tantrums. But it doesn't deserve a full 5/5 stars because of the touch sensitivity and Touch ID limitations set by the screen protector.

Why I chose this case
At the beginning, I was thrilled by so many cases available in the market, I was confused which one to buy. I struggled between the beauty and functionality. I am a woman, of course, I would like a stylish, slim case, but I am a mom with a 4 years old, too. I know the chance to drop an expensive phone either by me or by my baby will be significantly high. I watched some iPhone drop test in YouTube and knew the iPhone (any series) is very vulnerable to a front face drop, a side drop might survive, but a front face drop on a waist high will shutter the screen for sure. The only possible protection for the front glass, at least for my understanding, is to avoid the phone glass contact the drop surface directly. A tempered glass may protect somewhat, but remember, iPhone's original gorilla glass is supposed to harder than tempered glass. If the force from contacting the surface is too strong, both tempered glass and gorilla glass will be shuttered together because they are still glasses. So I decided to buy a case with a front protection. I researched some brands, then focused on otterbox defender and new trent trentium. They both provide 360 protection for the phone. The latter looks even more sleek and cleaner. However, the defender comes with a holster, which will provide more protection for the front, also, it could be used a kickstand when watching video or clip to the belt for my husband. Finally I decided to go with otterbox defender. I've just put it on, not sure if it will hold well in the long run, let's see. The only one issue is that I have installed a tempered glass, when I installed the defender's front case, it caused the front screen to leave a small gap above the tempered glass, The screen does not respond as sensitive as before. So I did what other people do: pop up the front plastic protector, clean with go gone, install the front frame on top of tempered glass. I know, this way, the dust will go in the phone a little, it might void the warranty. But it is the only way to fit. All the available front protection case is using a thick plastic cover, I guess using tempered glass will increase the manufacturing cost, so if you still believe the tempered glass is better than a film, then, you will need to do this. The iPhone 6s Plus is a little heavy, hehe, with its case, adding the holster, the phone really weights like a brick. But it is a trade off a peace of mind. My 4 years daughter picked up the phone and immediately put it down, she said it was too heavy to hold. That is really what I want her to do: DO NOT touch my phone. See, the extra weight provides an amazing benefit. A truly good quality product will last long and deliver what it promises. Let the time call the result. Hope I will remember to write another review after several months usage. Thank you for reading.

Cute and well made
Tricky to figure out how to install, instructions weren’t included. There is a tricky tab you need to pry open..: YouTube had good instructions. It’s a great protective case, rubber makes it easier to hang onto. It is bulkier with the case, but case seems very well made and hopefully protects from my clumsiness

Best protection, and makes TouchID work more reliably too!
If you want the best protection for your phone, this is the case to pick. In addition to the great build quality and features that other reviews mention, an unexpected advantage is that the TouchID works much better for me now with the plastic film covering the Home button (don't try to remove it BTW, it's part of the case!). Before, if my finger wasn't perfectly dry, the TouchID wouldn't pick up, but with the protective film, the phone recognizes my fingerprint a lot more now. There are trade-offs with this case in that it does add a significant size to the phone, and it takes more effort to get at say the Lightning port. But now you're covered for pretty much any kind of drop while using the phone. Even if you have insurance for accidents, this is still a cheaper investment for that one time the phone slips from your grip. If you're unsure re the size, check in a store first. I've found it's much cheaper to buy here however.

A “tupperware” for your phone!!
Unbelievable quality! Better call it “Tupperware” for smartphones ;)My iPhone 6 Plus has a partially shattered screen but the touchscreen digitizer is not affected. I purchased a screen on Amazon but before I replace it I said I should protect my phone for good. I am very happy I chose the Otter Defender. I have also bought the hardened glass screen protector and wanted to follow the advice of some other reviewers who said they snapped and removed the plastic screen cover that comes with the Defender. I think this is not necessary, the phone is already heavily protected so the hardened glass won’t change a thing. I was surprised that the touch screen is working even better than before the Defender (maybe because it had multiple cracks and the Otter plastic is distributing the pressure more evenly). I am thinking now of delaying the screen replacement since this cover even concealed the visible cracks.Bonus: both the rubber and the plastic covers are engraved “made in Mexico” which adds more confidence - I don’t mean to undermine Chinese good products though! ;)Edit: only the belt holster is made in China! This item came in an original package.

Best protective case, looks good too :)
It's a really the best case..no worries about the phone if it falls. if I must give away my iPhone to someone in the best condition possible, as received, i'd keep the phone safe inside this case.. it's thin n light as the plastic silicone cases, but in nothing is it in comparison with such...this is in the "helmet protection" category, other cases are bulky and kinda ugly.. I like how this looks too
