Absolutely lovely. Hilarious and thoughtful short stories!
Absolutely lovely and hilarious short stories! I enjoyed this book so very much, as did all of the others With whom I have shared this book. Although my favorites include the growing up and free range childhood stories my absolutely favorite was the story of Aunty Lily and her physical change caused by rain and the author's mental growth due to that same rain storm. I cannot recommend Aunty Lily enough. Support a true story teller and independent author.

Thoroughly enjoyed it !
A delightful collection of stories from the author’s unique lens and amazing memory of her childhood and other life escapades. Ms. Munro‘s stories evoke a range of emotions for the Reader and I found myself tearing up at times and laughing out loud at others.

Top notch storytelling from the stage onto the page!
Aunty Lily and other delightfully perverse stories is the long-awaited collection of stories from the ne-plus-ultra of storytellers, Connecticut’s own Jennifer Munro. The author grew up in Merrie Olde England but in the course of living her own rich story, Jennie became a New England transplant -- and we are all the richer for knowing her. In her Aunty Lily book, Munro re-tells some of her “greatest hits” personal stories from the stage; her “telling” in-person appearances belie the talented inner writer. Munro uses a voice that is sympathetic, self-deprecatingly humorous, and charming. Her awareness that a life worth living is one worth telling should be an inspiration to all. The characters that populate Munro’s stories are at once familiar, eccentric, yet appealing: even though the time and place are her own (a postwar English village), there’s a universal connection to a childhood full of beautiful memories. While perusing this delightful collection of memoirs, I defy any reader to not be able to identify at least one of the colorful cast of characters from their own lives. We chose Aunty Lily for a recent book club selection at the retirement community where I work -- with nary a complaint! That’s high praise: the older adult crowd knows a good read when it comes along. We only hope that more good reads from Jennifer Munro will follow.

A Must Read!
Jennifer Munro’s narration of her English childhood journey growing up in a working class community hooks the reader from the very start with enchanting and touching tales that enable any reader to laugh and tear up all at once. Her engaging manner of recalling her magical childhood, along with the life lessons she has carried into adulthood, makes this a page turner. Personally, what moved me the most is the reminder that love emerges from enduring family bonds and produces a well-adjusted adult ready to take on the world and pass along this love. Despite being raised under different circumstances, I found myself relating to Munro’s tales on numerous levels as we share the powerful love from parents so deeply in love. It is creative, inspirational, and moving. I have difficulty finding books that draw me in and are difficult to put down, but each story indisputably motivated me to read on and inspired further personal memories.I am confident that anyone who picks up this heartwarming collection of Munro’s stories will find more than one colorful character and/or event that will offer an opportunity to stir up personal memories. The question and answer section at the end enhances the beneficial capacity to grow from Munro’s insights. This is a must read, and I look forward to future literary treasures from Jennie Munro.

One of my favorite things about reading Aunty Lily was how transported to ...
What a lovely book to savor. One of my favorite things about reading Aunty Lily was how transported to time and place I felt by each short story. The author does a remarkable job with details specific to the time and location of each story, giving readers the opportunity leave the here and now and go back in time. However, it is the people and personalities and interactions of all in each story that are absolutely charming. This is a quick read, easy to read each story independently of the others. I have seen the author present her stories in person, and it was fun to imagine the stories being told live and in her wonderful accent with her perfect delivery. I can't recommend these stories enough.
