Q: Will front card scan a card reader at work without pulling it out?

Sometimes it does, but not always. I think it depends on the card reader itself.

Q: Will it hold "fewer" cards than 3 without them falling out? That is, does it need all three to keep any secure?

Yes. I have 2 cards. They are secure and there's a lever on the back to release each card from its slot. Hope that helps!

Q: How is lanyard attached to holder? Is it clip to hole in polycarbonate holder or is there a fabric loop on the holder the lanyard clip attaches to?

A metal clip connects the lanyard to the holder. I would recommend getting a plastic clip however as the metal one eats away at the plastic loop on the card holder and will eventually break it from normal usage.

Q: I have 2 cards, an id badge and a thick proximity card. can the space in the "back" accommodate a thick prox card instead of 2 id cards?
