Very nice tire for e-bikes, especially for VanMoof X3.
I replaced the tires that came on my e-bike with these and am very happy. They ride well and have a solid feel. They are puncture resistant (which is important in heavy e-bikes) and comfortable. They are a bit pricey, but they will probably be the only tires I have to buy for years. The reflective ring on the tires is a nice touch as e-bike riding as a commuter often means riding home in the dark. They clearly identify you as a bicyclist to drivers -- there is no mistaking those two glowing rings! For those with VanMoof bikes, these fit perfectly on the X3 model.

Solved My Problem With Flats
I purchased these tires because they were recommended to solve a horrendous problem I was having with flat tires. I had been running Schwalbe One folding tires on my road bike. They were great tires - just not for my riding style and environment. They were fast but they didn't last. I had speed but was experiencing flats due to goat thorns, sharp rocks, glass, etc. on literally every trip. I put these Marathon Plus SmartGuard wire tires on about eight (8) months ago and have not had a single tire issue in over 2,000 miles since. Sure they were not the easiest tires to mount but it was NOT frustratingly difficult to get them on and no special tools were required. I did it entirely with my hands and it took maybe 15-20 minutes per tire to work them onto the rims. While they are not as fast as the Schwalbe Ones, they aren't killing my speed. I'm averaging about 1 MPH difference in average speed over the same distance - but I'm also not wasting 20-30 minutes every ride dealing with flats. I'm actually making better total elapsed time. A definite 5 stars for commuting and durability. I'm projecting 5 stars for longevity because the tires have given me no issues and there is no unusual wear after 2,000+ miles. Good deal!

Studded Winter Bike Tires
Used all winter in Northern Idaho, made crossing patches of ice much less hazardous. Could continue my bike routine, with reduce miles, most winter weeks. Not for deep snow. If you are experienced in changing bike tires, installation is rather typical. If not better use a bike shop. Gave me very good service and very little wear. Didn't loose studs after full winter season of about 1000 miles. Will use again next year. Not cheap, but a good value.

Worthy tire for your glass strewn commute.
Initial review in June 8th 2020 when new and unused:Rock solid and rolls well. Go online and use smarts to wrestle it on your rim!!Update a year later: The same model tire that I bought back in October 2019 has held up pretty well while running the gauntlet of multiple areas of broken glass (beer bottles etc., not safety glass!!) that I encounter on my daily commute. Finally got my first puncture in this tire last week. A huge, random arrowhead of broken glass made it through to my inner tube. Only a slow puncture though! The tire seems to have picked up less overall damage than my Specialized 'Black Belt' reinforced tire. It does have some absolutely gnarly slashes though!! You can see all the way through to the blue armor belt on quite a few of these big holes. In its role as the rear tire, the Schwalbe has been on the receiving end of more abuse: having most of my weight on it during encounters with sharps, and also doing the majority of the braking/skidding.I would say that this tire is worth the money. It rolls very nicely and has stood up to some horrible urban surfaces quite well.It would be perfect if the tire's durometer (D.U.R.O.M.E.T.E.R. that word will get spell corrected by Amazon to 'odometer') rating was a little higher (hint, hint, Schwalbe). I would say that the rubber is a little softer than some of the shinier puncture resistant tires. The tire has enough grip for the rain after almost a whole year of 5-days-a -week,16 miles a day commuting in all conditions. It is satisfying to run over unseen glass etc. in the dark and hear it ricochet out from under the bike.. without concern for a flat!!!!

Works for winter unicycling!
I mounted this on a unicycle, after wiping out pretty hard on some ice I didn’t see. It’s amazing! I’ve ridden it on ice, fresh snow, compacted snow, and bare pavement (wet and dry). As you might imagine, traction is even more important when you have just one wheel. After finishing the recommended 40km “run-in” period to set the studs, there’s no problems to report with the studs. They’re all still there and intact, even after riding on sidewalks part of the time.It has its limits, but the only difficulties I’ve had were from snow that was just too deep, or too bumpy from being melted, walked upon, and refrozen. Traction has not been a problem at all. My main concern was unseen patches of ice, and I rode this tire right across the slickest stuff I could find, with no slippage. The one curious quirk this tire has is that when you lean into a turn, it tends to want to tighten the turn. Again, this is on a unicycle, it may not do that on a bike. It isn’t enough to make me bail, but it is definitely noticeable. The benefit of this characteristic is that when riding on the shoulder of crowned roads, it tends to keep you straight, whereas with my knobby tire it wants to pull off downhill.Overall, I’m very happy with it, because it lets me keep riding in the chilly months!

The standard for MTN Bike tires.
These have never let me down. Good tread, medium soft rubber, always last a long time, even in rocky terrain.
