A whole family book.
What a brilliant book! I found out about Lucy Hawking only after watching the Theory of Everything and then consulting wikki for some more knowledge. Then came across George!Initially I thought this would be a good book for my oldest (6) to read with his Dad as they're both avid star gazers, however we have ended up reading this as a family at breakfast and after dinner. My 4 yr old finds the antics of Freddy quite amusing. Quite simply, the book is gripping and teaches you facts in a very fun way. Looking forward to carrying on with this book and then the sequels.A separate copy sent to my son's best friend (also 6).

Fabulous Series of Books
Bought this for my grandson as he had shown an inclination to read for himself as well as a grown up reading to him at bedtime. He devoured it and loved it! He read the whole book in a matter of days. His dad remarked that instead of him appearing at 6.30am he would just lie in bed reading it before getting up to go to school. I just had to buy the whole series for him, one after the other! Great stories and fabulous colour plates of the universe. By the way,I know it says this is recommended for ages 9-11, but my grandson is 7 years old and coped with it no problem. Would not hesitate to buy any more books in the series should they appear. Highly recommend.

Wasn't sure about buying, so glad I did
We bought this for Christmas for a 9yr who loves science, initially he refused to read it, I think Professor Hawking's name on the front scared him a little "But its going to be about Quantum Physics.....I'm NINE!!!". After a certain amount of gentle parental persuasion (only taking on book away with us) he started reading it, he finished reading it the next day having enjoyed every single moment.I haven't read it, all I can say it that he loved it thought be prepared with a dictionary, it doesn't use unnecessary big words but it will expand the vocabulary

both thoroughly enjoyed. It is well written and tackles difficult concepts ...
This is a book, my daughter and i, both thoroughly enjoyed. It is well written and tackles difficult concepts in the easiest possible manner making physics accessible to the young (my daughter is 10). It is quite ambitious and visionary text that raises the child interest and desire to understand the world. Well deserved 5 stars!!!! Well worth it!

Most wonderful book I have ever read
This book is about a boy called George who had a new naigbor. This naigbor was no ordinary naigbor but a special one because they had a computer called cosmos. You could talk to cosmos and he could create a magical door into real life space! The owner was called Eric and had a daughter called Anny.Eric told her "never say to anyone that we had a magic computer ."George wanted to explore their through a hole in their fence. I wonder what will happen nextFROM Zineb

A good story and fab facts.
My son (aged 10) shared reading this at bedtime. He loved all of the scientific facts and the story was entertaining too. The colours of the pictures are referred to but they are in black and white. We liked the characters and adventure and look forward to reading more books in the series.

Adventure in science
This book is a great introduction to some basic science about how the stars and planets form, told incidentally as part of an adventure. Interspersed with science facts and with s some great photos of planets etc at the end of the book. A book by Stephen Hawkings that you can read to the end ;-)

I am six years old and I enjoyed this book so much
I am six years old and I enjoyed this book so much. I am pleased that Lucy Hawking has written others. I like this one because George helps Eric when he gets stuck in something.
