You can't ask for more, for the money...great boot!

First-off, I'd like to express how funny I think folks on here are, with putting what is clearly a ton of foot-miles/hours on a pair of work-boots, and then trying to scam a set of replacements. Idiots that do that are why the rest of us have to keep paying more and more, but, if you're that petty...I laugh at you, where we ALL should be upset.No-one abuses a set of boots more than myself...I build custom trailers, which means I kick steel, weld and expose my boots to ALL of the inherent abuse typical of a fabrication shop. I also forge custom knives on the weekends...these boots get molten-steel, slag, tend to farm animals, and oh-yeah...are worn regular for off-roading. All this, and the last pair lasted easily 2 years, AND I could have pushed them farther, but they were looking real ratty, so on cosmetics alone, I parked them. This new pair are exactly like the last, save for not being broken-in. I know from experience that once I get a few weeks on them, they will feel more like an extreme high-top, pull-on sneaker, than a work-boot. The only other pair of boots that have felt this great, out of the box, is my Rocky S2V Tac boots. Are they the very best you can buy?...all subjective. But like everything else in life, if it's man-made, there will be examples that are genuinely flawed, and for those folks whose number came up, I apologize for my above criticism. All that said, these boots are worth every penny. I'm not a boot expert but, I'm 60 years old and have worked hard my entire life, and believe me when I tell you, I've had some turd-boots on my feet in those years...some, even made by big/popular brands, that beat my feet up, and didn't last half as long. Add to that I'm diabetic, and my feet are super sensitive to hard-points, pressure and abrasion...these things pass with flying colors. Add to that, I have a size 14 foot, and it's very difficult to get a proper boot in those larger sizes, which leads me to this next comment...definitely consider a size smaller than you normally wear; folks mention that, and it's a fact...at least, with the square toe. I can't attest to the others. I went with the 13 wide and I can easily, comfortably, wear a pair of insulated socks in these.Buy them. I hope they don't change a thing with these boots, as I figure I have about another 15 years of hard labor left in me...that equates to about another 7.5 pair of these, at this rate. About once every 6 months I clean them real well, and re-treat the entire boot. And people, if you're in a high-abuse environment, such as most construction, fab-shops and the like, a couple years out of a pair of boots is MORE than you should expect, no matter how much you spend. I guess if you just wear these to church on Sunday, and they let go at a year, maybe you have something to complain about.

Best quality and comfort for work boots

I purchased these for my husband. He's worn these same work boots for 5 years, always repurchase, always love them. Stylish, look good, easy to use and pull on, and comfortable. They're not waterproof but I would say water resistant. The fit is on point, and the quality is exceptional. They last a long time, and function well as work boots.

Ariat Groundbreakers Size Down 1 Full Size

These Ariat Groundbreakers are very comfortable, however I did have to go through 3 sizes before finding my fit in this boot. For reference, I normally wear a 10.5 in New Balance, 10-10.5 in Asics, 9-9.5 in dress shoes (Cole Haans), 42-43 European size in Lem's barefoot shoes. I used to wear a 9.5 in Timberland work boots, they were steel-toe waterproof Titans. I've been looking to try out some Ariats, and although these are towards the economy line as Ariats go, they have not disappointed.Pros:*nice color and quality of leather and welt*comfortable insole although if you have high arches like I do you may want a more supportive replacement but this would be true in any western-style work boot*non-slip electrical hazard rated outer sole, also non-markingCons:*not waterproof (I knew this when ordering and they breathe better, but if you're looking for waterproof this is not the model for you)*not steel-toed (again, I knew this and was looking for soft-toe boots, but if you are working in an industrial area make sure you look for the steel-toed groundbreakers)As for the fit, I returned 10.5 and 10 sizes for being too big before settling on 9.5. This size allowed some slipage in the heel as is necessary in a good fitting pull-on work boot. The top of the foot was a little looser than I would want at first, but as the leather has been breaking in over the last few weeks they have settled down on and around my foot and calf, and as the sole has become more flexible the heel has also settled in as well. Overall they are breaking in nicely.I wear two types of socks for work, summer I wear thinner boot socks, and with these socks the boots are slightly looser. With Merino wool gold-toe boot socks for winter they are slightly snug. I have experienced a slight toe pinch when crouching which usually means the last is too big, so I might have been able to get away with a size 9, but I wanted to leave plenty of room for the wool socks when winter comes. If your preference is tighter boots that break and stretch to your feet you may start at a size down from street shoe size then go down another half size to get that real snug feel. For most people though, I expect 1 full size down will be a good starting point for sizing these boots. As far as the styling, they are understated and simple which I like, and the calf is roomy for me and I have regular calf muscles, but if you are thinner than me you might find that part a little bit. I think anyone who has thick legs would fit and not find them too narrow.Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and recommend these boots to anyone looking for a good-quality understated pull-on work boot.

Excellent Cowboy Boots!

I've been looking for a square toe composite toe work boot that was water proof and insulated. This boot checked all the boxes! These boots are very warm and comfortable and I've worn them a lot since I bought them. They are indeed waterproof and the traction they provide is by far excellent in snow and ice. The first thing I did when I got them is I cleaned them with Red Wing leather soap and then let them dry. I then did 3x heavy coats of Huberd's Shoe Grease. Then let the boot sit for a couple days to absorb the grease before wearing them. I've been wearing them every other day (Pro Tip: Don't wear the same leather boots everyday!) and they still look like new, other than the usual workman's scuffs. This week I plan on cleaning them again and doing a nice coat or two of the Huberd's to prep them for more rain/snow/ice and sand/salt goodness. Key thing with any leather boot is to stay up on cleaning and oiling them. They will last for a long time. I also found that these boots are resoleable by NuShoe. ARIAT has a contract with them apparently. Very good boots, and I highly recommend them.

Hubby loves

These are yhe only shoes my husband will wear. They are great foot protection being on job sites all day. He is a size 14. It is nice to find his size and have them be so durable.
