K&N 59-3262 K&N Flame Arrestor

Fitted to my Mercruiaer 3.0 tks to replace the smaller stock flame arrestor. I had to grind very slightly the flange with my dremmel. I also ordered a longer stud from Amazon. Overall I am very happy with this, great quality and looks fantastic.

Needed to modify (grind down/widen down the diameter) the flange on this to fit a mercarb 2bbl on a '97 mercruiser 5.7l. Also, it's way too expensive for what it is. Purchased for better filtration, don't expect performance gains. Overall, it's fine...looks great.

Great product ! Pricey ... It woke up my V6 190 HP Merccruiser . No more hesitation at wide open throttle and mid range lot more punch ! It's hot in Texas on the water and this and a stainless prop laser is now a 50 Mph boat ! It surprises a lot of Sea Rays and Cobalt with small V8 s . Raced quite a few have not lost yet . Crownline 185 SS !

This one is for the boat, 3.0L Merc. It fits under the motor hatch and has a slick look to it. I am not expecting a HP boost from this bolt on, but we'll see if it breathes better the next trip to the river.I did have to grind the inlet seat down as it was maybe 1mm to small for my carb...which is the stock carb for the Merc 3.0L and I had to put a longer lock post on the carb...no problem, 1/4" threaded stainless rod is easy to find at Lowes

I read some reviews that said they had to open up the filter base a little. Mine was the opposite. It was a tad loose. I've ran the boat with a gasket and without a gasket, no issues either way. When there's no gasket, I've got an 1/8" gap diameter wise. It's not bad and I lose no performance.I may have misread the package, so I'll let you know for sure, you need the filter oil kit. Order it at the same time you order this flame arrestor. It does not come with the oil, and it is not pre-treated. The spray oil worked fine. It was not messy. Take your time and it will be fine. This arrestor went on a 2 bbl Rochester, 3.0 OMC, 1987 Reinell. Loving it so far versus the original. Much better air flow than the metal spark arrestors.

Constructed to a higher quality than I expected. Fit and finish as good as it gets. It's what the boat manufacturer should have put on in the first place.

Had to grind out the opening to get it to fit over the carb. All good now

Like all K&N products the quality is good , be sure to measure the diameter of your carb , the chart was not correct for my boat , however I made an adaptor and it works fine .
