Excellent and enjoyable look back to the days when The Captain first came upon the scene. The stories are definitely NOT PC, however, so hand wringers, perpetually offended persons and those who don't realize that fact can safely give this book a miss.If you're looking for simple, fun stories from a time when we were at war and the bad guys were BAD guys (and to be fair, you can overlook the sometimes obvious absurdity of the plots in some stories), this book is for you. I have enjoyed it thoroughly, and continue to do so. A great look at where The Captain came from, and his history.

Oh, oh, oh: Captain America 1 - 10 is universally recognized in comic fandom as Simon and Kirby's first break through/out superhero. Monumental compilation here, with issues 11 and 12 also included so the reader can judge how well Al Avison was able to take over after S&K went over to DC.

Best collection of Cap's early comics. If you are into the early golden age comics this is a great book to have. It has a whole collection of old Captain America comics that can't be found so easily in one monster book.

Always wanted to read the early Captain America's with the political overtones. Blown away that he was punching Hitler on the cover of issue #1, 9 months before Pearl Harbor. These collections are really a treasure. i am a Silver Age collector but some of this early issues I no longer have and these editions are great way to fill it in, in an affordable manner.

Just got the latest printing (2021), yet another quality omnibus from Marvel from their Golden Age series. I really hope Marvel continue to bring these out, perhaps one or two a year, as I love the Golden Age Material and the MMW GA series seem to have totally died so this is the best way to get the material. Personally, they look better than they ever did short of seeing the original pages and having them re-colored (unlikely), certainly better than when they were first printed if you like the high quality colour omnibus / MMW use. Remember getting some of these in those old tatty Fantasy Masterpieces and the quality was dire but even then the power of the art and the completely nuts storylines made up for that. Now those classics are ina lovely thick volume, wow !!

I like reading books like this to get a view into the culture at different times/places. In this case, I found it interesting seeing how men and women treated each other 70+ years ago. It was also interesting seeing the pre-marvel work on Kirby and Lee. Both gone now. They changed the world.

Really pleased with my - eventual - purchase of this omnibus. It too longer than I had hoped, because I initially made the mistake of believing in the Amazon pre-order blurb. Having initially offered me a good price on pre-order Amazon suddenly decided they could not forfill that promise and I was forced, after hanging around for a couple of weeks, to go to another seller on the market place who delivered on time at a slightly higher price. So much for the pre-order price pledge. If they can't actually supply it at the cheapest price quoted, it seems they just pretend they can't supply it at all and hope you go elsewhere! Last time I pre-order anything.
