Q: Is one side stickier than the other?

Not really, but there is a top and bottom side and the bottom side is designed to make more contact with the shelf so it stays in place. It will slide a little with no weight on it, but as soon as there is any kind of weight on it, it stays put.

Q: Heat resistant? I have a wall oven, and above that I have an opening where my microwave sits. Think it would be ok to line that space with this?

Depends on how hot. Foam..kinda. You know plastic..could create a mess if too hot. If only warm, should be okay.

Q: can you put this on glass top stove?

I wouldn't unless you take it off EVERY time you use your stove. Otherwise it would melt Hope this helps.
