It's fine - but why doesn't this thing have a tapered thread!?
I needed something to stop the 'hydraulic shock' caused by shutting the lever tap in my kitchen from working the fridge plumbing loose. After 9 months, the 1/4" plastic push fit tubing had popped out from the filter and flooded under the kitchen cabinets.Seems like this will do the job, but it was a s*d to fit it, without leaks. The pieces come unassembled and the threads on the bottom of the vessel and inside the brass T-piece are not tapered. Thus, there's no seal whatsoever - unless copious quantities of PTFE tape are used when screwing it together. After 3 attempts, and thoroughly WODGING it with tape, I think I've cured the leak. Also slathered a metric butt-load of Fernox plumbers putty all over the joint for good measure.Part of the problem is that the hex nut on the bottom of the vessel is so narrow that I can't get any of my spanners on it, to tighten it down. Hence, I could only do it hand-tight. Would have to buy a 23mm narrow spanner to torque it down good and hard - but still, there's no actual seal between the two threads or mating faces. Really, there aren't any mating faces.
