Quality used to be important.
It's a good printer. I am going to comment on our experience with this product and HP. We purchased this printer direct from HP about a year and a half ago. We did not go with the warranty. In my experience until now, HP is a pretty solid product and it's always been a waste of money. A month after the manufactures warranty ended. The Transfer Maintenance Kit failed. Technicians words " They do need to be replaced every few years or so. This one should have lasted much longer. " Two visits 600$. a few weeks of good printing. Then the Flat bed scanner assy needs to be replaced. Tech said this is definitely uncommon and the part should've lasted 5 years or so. The part alone is 600$ then add on the labor at 75$ per hour. I did contact HP to see if they would stand behind their product. At least cut us a deal on the part. Nope out of service. "Sorry Sir. As the printer warranty has expired..." Yes, in hind sight we should have purchased the additional warranty. But it would have turned a 6k printer into an 8k printer. Had i known the quality of HP had diminished so much... I may have gone with a Cannon or Brother.
