Great hat for water sports. You can wear a bump cap under it for impact protection (boards, foils, etc). The fit is good, but not quite perfect. Looks cool, though I wish I had a better choice of colors.

If you are planning on using this for surfing in some sizable waves, don't. I had one I bought about 5 years ago that lasted until a big wave took it off my head. I bought a replacement at the start of the summer and it broke 2 days into a 2 week surf trip. It was replaced by the time I got home. The replacement broke this weekend after about 2 months of use. Both broke in the same way - the draw string was ripped off the hat by waves that I would call average (waist-chest high). So the replacement lasted almost 2 months. Disappointing for sure. If you are using it where it won't actually be in waves with you, like fishing or SUP, it is a great hat but not a 'surf' hat

Great hat

As a bald man I am always looking for a breathable hat that I can wear without loosing gallons of sweat! I've tried all sort of ball caps, running hats, and sun hats. I did my research before purchasing this hat and found that it had good reviews in the surf community. I don't surf but I am an avid outdoors-man with hiking. canoeing, paddle boarding, and just plain being outside. This hat has great breathability, sun support, and I love the rigid rim in both the front and back. When the hat gets wet it doesn't flop in your face when you pull yourself out of the water. Overall a great hat! Only down side maybe is the sizing. I have a BIG head so Ill give them the benefit of the doubt, however I find mine a little tight for a 'Large"
