Ernie BallVP JR 250K Volume Pedal, For Passive Signals (P06180)

I’m a guitarist in my church & wanted a good well built pedal to help me express the guitar. Great value, well built & sturdy, also performed very well even on the 1st trip out!

Solid. It seems like it’ll last forever. Very smooth, consistent movement. Nice sweep, easy to control. Iconic look. This is probably the best known, most used volume pedal. I got a Y splitter cable, so now I can also use it as an expression pedal.

Have you seen Junior's grades?" - David Lee RothI grew up using a Morley Volume pedal back in the '70s when I was learning playing Jeff Beck, Alex Lifeson, Allan Holdsworth and several other volume pedal players. Then, as pedals come and go over a guitarist's lifetime, I had to repurchase my pedals several times. I recently picked up playing Pedal Steel Guitar too and volume pedals are essential.The Ernie Ball VP JR gets an A+ in my book after over a year later it is still a solid and reliable volume pedal at a reasonable price. I would absolutely purchase again if needed (only offers a 6 month limited warranty). However, the only thing that is likely to malfunction, or wear out, is the sting inside the volume pedal and you can replace that part for a nominal cost and you don't need to be a guitar tech to fix it yourself. There are simple instructions on the web and YouTube that only require a screwdriver and some patience.A small design flaw, which is a minor critique on my end, is that the position of the taper switch located behind the input jack under the footplate . The micro taper switch gives the guitar or pedal steel player two distinct volume swell rates.I am happy with the performance, durability and sound of this volume pedal and I am giving it an A+No battery required.

It needed a bit of adjustment and you still have to compromise between not turning off al the way and not turning on all the way ie still some resistance at fully depressed.

In my opinion, this is the best guitar volume pedal available. It is affordable and does exactly what it's supposed to, and does it very, very well I might add. I've tried numerous volume pedals, from Morley to Line 6 to the Dunlop DVP1, and none are as fluid or feel as good as the Ernie Ball Jr.I owned the Dunlop DVP1 for several months, and while it did an okay job of cutting the volume I simply did not like the feel nor the low volume levels. It felt way too bulky under foot and went from about 0 to about 3 when barely applying volume. This is unacceptable when you're trying to clean up your distortion channel or trying to accomplish a slow volume swell. But as soon as I laid the Ernie Ball down and plugged it in I fell in love. Not only does it feel great under your foot and provide precise control, it has a complete volume sweep. Add in some delay and it will give you an organ-type swell. Absolutely perfect!I've heard some people complain about the Ernie Ball Jr being a flimsy pedal but I just don't see this. Of course, it's not a tank like the Dunlop or Morley, but it still feels very solid. It's also lighter than the others mentioned, which is a plus for traveling musicians.I would HIGHLY recommend this pedal. It is one of my favorites on my board and I couldn't imagine playing without it!

this is just what i needed and what i was looking for.it's a plain old, passive volume pedal. no batteries to mess with, no cut in your gain when your battery starts running low, etc...i don't get any noise from it (it's passive, duh.. just a pot). it seems very rugged.i've read some comments where at least one person complains about situations when a tuner is plugged into the tuner output jack, they experience a cut in volume.... that makes no sense, and i don't have that problem at all... the secondary tuner output is quite convenient, actually, even though i really didn't care for it when i bought it.i really like how it feels... the pedal sits a little tall, and the volume down extreme is kind of a high angle. being that it sits a little higher, it feels ok. the pedal rocks nice and smoothly. i can see if some people don't like the taper of the volume, but i think it just takes a little getting used to. it has more to do with how the pedal feels under your foot because of how it's designed and how it's linked to the pot, and not the actual pot per se (totally different story if you're dealing with certain morley pedals).bottom line: i'm super happy with it. i don't have ANY problems with it. the only thing i do wish is that i had bought a pedal with a minimum level set, so i can just switch between two volume levels. for the price i'm happy.

As a gift I received the little Sonicake volume pedal that I returned because I never used it do to the size but made me want to get a bigger one to control my loop pedals backing tracks, some are recorded louder than others and this is perfect!
