Ok, I admit it - I listen to Chase Jarvis's podcast. He is relatable and inspiring and hosts fascinating and inspiring guests on his show. However, when I heard he was launching a book I was - meh... Why not a video? Or an online class? Or just do an exclusive podcast event series? I would have gladly forked over money for any of those things. He's a dynamic personality and I admire him, but I have purchased books from people I've admired before, and their messaging doesn't always translate well in book form. If I'm being 100% honest, I rarely finish them. Okayokayokay, I don't even make it 100 pages. I love to read, but sometimes I have a habit of reading the first chapter or so, and then skimming, and then moving on, even if I "like" it. HERE'S THE THING with this book. I'm now on page 122, and I'm not wandering. In fact, I'm underlining stuff, scribbling notes, writing stuff in my journal. Gah! I feel like I might need to stand up while I read the rest of it because it's making me jittery and itchy with energy and ideas. It's not just about Chase's story (which is interesting) but it's the fact that I think he actually believes I can use this information to shake up and rearrange my own life. I'm to the part in the book where I can see how this applies to ME. And the thing is - and I'm sorry I'm still talking but maybe this will help someone - I actually took huge steps to follow my dream last summer and I'm living it right now, so one would think this book really isn't for me. BUT IT TOTALLY IS. I have been living my dream freelance life for over a year and I didn't know it, but I needed someone to tell me there is more. I needed someone to tell me that I could have more impact if I embraced real risk again. I needed someone to tell me that following my dream wasn't just a self-centered thing, but was part of a bigger picture. I guess what I'm saying is....no matter where you are on your journey, whether you are at the dream stage or the doing stage or the living-it-out stage, this book will push you. It will challenge you to dream again. It will give you practical things to do. It's one of those rare books that I will be gifting, and I don't do that often. So there you have it - my review. Just put the dang book in your cart and buy it, mmmkay? You'll thank me when you get to page 122, but probably way before that. Peace out.

I love this book!! I bought it in hard and electronic copy, and as an audible book so as to listen in the car. I’ve just been away shooting images for my fledgling side hustle and listened to this for approx 900km and found it resonated so well with where Im at. It simply made sense and coalesced all the ‘bits’ in my head into order, confirming direction and action. Relatable, supportive, encouraging and inspiring. I can’t thank Chase enough for putting his experience together and sharing it.

Creative Calling gives you the tools to both zoom out and focus in to reframe how you see the world, all it has to offer and how you can step in to and up to what you are capable of.I’ve seen Chase in video interviews and heard him on podcasts so I’m familiar with the energy he brings to the conversation but was curious to see how that could be captured in a book.The passion and dedication that Chase has for living a creative life is captivating. His excitement and generosity in sharing experiences and ideas allows the reader to quickly shift gears from interested to invested. It’s like a little fire is lit within giving rise to a desire to catch up on what’s been neglected in our creative foot print to date.Creative Calling is presented in a way that is fun to navigate. The structure ensures that the content is understandable and the tone feels relatable and encouraging. It’s like having a conversation with a friend that wants to help you out, will be straight with you and has the patience to guide you through to where you want to be.
