OKUMAGreat Lakes Trolling Combo with Magda 30

I troll for Salmon on the Washington coast. This rod is light enough to show the small Coho hits and heavy enough to bring in the big Kings! I now have two of this combo and will add a couple more in the next month.

My favorite trolling rod/reel combo. Perfect for Walleye.

Bought two of these altogether in two different purchases separate by about 1 day. Didn't take the opportunity to assess my first purchase before I bought the second. The rod and reel appear to be good quality. Have fished twice now with both of these rods and reels. Time will tell if the quality is as good as it appears. Would love to do a follow-up review after two full fishing seasons. The reel was way bigger than I thought at purchase time - for my wants and needs I should have gone with the Magda 20 instead of the 30. 300 yards of braided 15-pound test doesn't even come close to filling it half-way. The total rod length is over 8 feet - there's good and bad in that - doesn't fit in the rod storage on my boat unless I break it down, however, the length gets the rod well over the side of the boat when trolling. Stiffness works well enough that there isn't much flex trolling between 3-4 mph with 3" diving crank bait set to dive about 20 feet and about 250 feet of line out behind the boat. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase, just wish I had bought the Magda 20 reels. Guess I have an excuse to buy some gear.

Okuma makes great fishing tackle, so I have to assume this is on the seller. The rod was broken; it looks like about an inch missing from the end of the rod. The gears on the reel are also broken and the reel will not retrieve line. The box was not damaged, so it appears the set was broken before packaging. Non-existent quality control. Very disappointing.

The combo is supposed to be a Great Lakes Trolling Combo. It was delivered last week. The first time I used it on Lake Superior a fish hit and the rod broke. I was using 20# test which the rod is rated for and had the drag set lightly.I bought four of these rod and reel combos. I would like the rod replaced or I will return all of them.The reels are really nice and the price is right, but if the rods are going to break they are no good.

I am mostly happy with this except what might possibly be an isolated issue. I bought 4 of these to get ready for Walleye fishing unfortunately due to issues with the boat I missed the early part of the season. The second time using them (first fish caught) the tip of 1 rod broke off about 12" from the tip and it's too late to return it. I guess it remains to be seen how the other 3 hold up

Rod has plenty of backbone and drag on reel is very decent for the price. I highly recommend this combo for the cost effectiveness. Caught many salmon and lake trout in the 10-20 lb class

Bought to use for Salmon on Lake Ontario. Great rod and reel combo. Works great.

Rod, flimsy, cheap, broke during first use just below 6th eyelet. Mfg defect ? S/H damage ? My handling ? I don't know the cause. I've never had a rod break on first use, just loading it up on the down rigger. Have had other brands of rods shipped, with out problem.I would have sent back, but the first time I used was already past the return dateI suggest looking at any alternative combo or rod.
