Q: does this work? and what does the ring sound like?

The ring is just like a phone sounded in the 1960's and 70's. The phone works. I liked the quality of the construction. The voice quality has interference on my landline but I was told by my carrier that was due to me having so many things hooked onto my DSL. I only wanted the phone for use in power outages. For that it is great and looks pretty neat.

Q: Dose it needs a power source? If yes, dose it works with 240V?

No power source is required. You simply plug it into a standard telephone jack.

Q: Can you turn off the ringer? Is it too light weight? Is the cradle for the hand piece stable or loose?

Nice landline conversation piece!

Beautiful design and is a nice addition to the home. The sound on the receiver is slightly muffled as if you were n a bathroom, you hear an echo. Overall it is a cool replica.
