This *IS* the Big Bad Wolf.
Goodness, gracious, GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!Whoa! That's the first thing you'll say when you go out on Night-1 with this ridonkulous torch and crank it up to eleven!Right off the bat, the first thing you'll notice, in addition to the absurd amount of light this thing throws, is how smooth and even the flood is. There is practically NO hot-spot, and the flood falls off gracefully. The color is slightly warmer (which I personally prefer) than the harsh, cold bluish LEDs in other similarly-powerful lights. We have a farm, and this thing can flood ACRES of pasture, spotting cows, coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, and possums hundreds of YARDS away. It's large, and is certainly no pocket flashlight, but it's neither too big nor too heavy -- it's a very comfortable size for the job it is designed to perform. The rotating output selector is ingenious! No more fingering a single button to control output, just twist. Using three Orbtronic 3400 18650 batteries you get HOURS of usage out of the light between charges. It's exceedingly rare that you will use even its highest-three output settings, so practical useful output is extended considerably. This is not an EDC light, like the Olight S20 or some other 500-1000LM light. This thing is a B-E-A-S-T that produces the best flood beam I've seen yet on any light. It would be a GREAT addition to any first-responder's bag of tricks, and if you're a SAR pro, this thing could be the best light you'll ever use. It's robust, well-built, has very good finishing, and is about as impressive a light as you're likely to see. 18650 is the way to go, hands down, instead of blowing through 500 CR123A batteries a year at $1.50 each. They last longer in the light and then you just charge them back up again... and again... and again.

Nice light but faulty tail switch
I like the light. It's bright, seems well built, and isn't too heavy. I have an issue with the tail switch though. For one, it stopped working after a relatively short time period with limited use. Two, you have to pull the switch off and set it aside, bare circuit board and all, to take the batteries out to charge them. This part seems very delicate and not even remotely rugged. I've been very careful with it but somehow the switch has stopped operating correctly. You have to shake or bump the flashlight every few seconds to keep it on. I have contacted the manufacturer and they diagnosed it via email as being a faulty switch and said they would send one from China in 6 weeks. Two months later it never showed up so I emailed again and they said they'll send it soon. We'll see.

Best all around light
Like many guys, I have flashlight overkill. But as the technology has progressed I got curious about a possible ONE LIGHT DOES ALL kind of deal. And I found it. I started to order another light like my SR92 Olight with the big head and three or four LEDS. But I already have a huge, heavy light with tremendous throw. I wanted one with more flood effect for my woods. This light fills the bill. It still has a bright center spot like the Olight SR92, but it has a brighter spill or flood. I compared the two on my wall. Each, on their highest level had a big equal round spot representing throw. The only difference is that this light has a more yellow light whereas the Olight has a whiter light. Neither one is better. Just different. And the only way you notice it is by putting them side by side and turning them on. The Olight with the larger head has a wider spill. But the ThruNite has a BRIGHTER spill. Both are wide spills. But this light's spill is useable. That's what I wanted. And this light is not as heavy and cumbersome as the huge Olight. But I like both. However, this light has a big hexagonal emitter in place of the three cree emitters on Olight. And this light has about 6 levels of brightness, all with a useful application. Even the lowest level, moonlight, has a practical purpose. You can set this light down in the darkness and walk off if you need to. Leave it on moonlight and it will be easy to see in the dark when you come back. And it won't drain the battery on moonlight level. A lot of talk is about lumens on these things. Without any meter or device to assess the lights brightness, I just did a common sense comparison on my wall. They look almost exactly the same brightness on high. Olight claims 1700 while ThruNite claims 2750. Why do they look equal? One thing is that this light uses a lot of it's lumens on spill. And that may account for the center spot looking equal in brightness. Both lights are BRIGHT! All you'll need. Like a car light. But this light has a brightness level for every application. Olight has two. And this light costs less than a third of the Olight. It also only requires 3 batteries. So, if you have 6 batteries, you have a backup for when you are charging the original three. Olight has permanent rechargeable batteries and comes with it's own charger. The end cap has four green lights indicating the remaining battery life on Olight. I do like that.In the end, this light does it all and is very well made. It's solid like the Olight. If you could have or afford only one light, I'd reccommend this one due to the lower cost and all the useable levels of brightness. I also have a couple of the "coke can" lights, and they are bright too, but not as bright as this one. And I have several of the WF-502 B UltrFire small lights which are great for indoors and even outside useage. Amazing really for their size. But again, this ThruNight takes the place of each and every one of these lights, all in one package.

It would be good if it worked
I have been working with Thrunite support for 3 weeks now. I bought my light 2 weeks before a hunting trip and was excited about how well it worked at home. We got to the woods and the light would not turn on. The batteries were white hot and completely dead. I was shipped new batteries and assured my opinion of electronic issues was wrong. The new batteries fried in about 30 seconds. I just want my money back. $200 for a flashlight that wont work and customer service wants a video to show them what I am talking about.

The bezels on other peoples' lights come off easily by hand
The light works ok, but gets hot really quickly. The output is at least 200lm less than advertised. The steel bezel in the front is obviously misaligned with a gap more than 1 mm on one side, and I cannot get it off no matter what I do or what tools I use. Dirt gets in all the time. The bezels on other peoples' lights come off easily by hand, but mine will not come off even with the help of multiple tools. Buying this can be a lottery.
