This was $17.99 when I purchased it for a birthday gift for my 2 year old grandson.It's very durable and a great price for a well made wooden toy.And of course I like that the pieces don't come out to get lost. It's like a whack-a-mole game. He likes it.I also attached the hammer to the base with a string and a round eye hook so it couldn't be used as a projectile. Lol.The colours are bright and it really does seem well-made. I bought this for my 2.5 year old son as he is a bit of a thug and loves nothing more than being destructive!Its a really nice product but its a little bit too easy, it only takes one whack for him to knock the pins down and the wood is rather soft so it is covered in dents and knocks after just one day! He likes it though. I just wish it was a bit more durable and a little harder to knock the pins down.

It’s a good concept and our daughter does love it. But I’m pretty unimpressed with the craftsmanship. There’s clearly wood glue that has oozed out of the joints and globed along the seams. As this is our first child we were new to the toy scene and the way Melissa and Doug products are talked about I expected better. We bought multiple products of theirs and have returned quite a few as although made of wood, felt flimsy. This pound bench was of thicker wood and sturdier so we kept it, and as it’s a unique design as well, I’ve not seen another pound toy like it. Of course our daughter doesn’t care there’s glue on it she just likes watching the ball bounce down and roll along the floor to crawl after it but as a parent you want the toys to start out in a nice condition.

As most partents know, you judge a babies toy by the amount of peace you can get out of it at any one time. My 1 yr old will give this a solid 5 minutes, sometimes 10 just pushing each one down with his index finger. It's really helped his hand eye co-ordination and the whole thing couldn't be any more sturdy. He'll get a good few years out of this no problem.

At the description it states the toy is made of wood and this is the only listed material. However the mechanism is made of plastic. This was disappointed as we do not support any plastic toys.
