Gimmicky, Content-Deprived Read
I was extremely unimpressed with this book. As an information services professional, I was looking for a contextual analysis of anonymity in our increasingly digital world, but what I received was a glorified .PDF, with little original content. Spelling errors are rampant throughout the text, and the author often offers URL's to explain concepts and practices, as opposed to doing so himself. While I can't deny that some of the topics covered are viable options for personal information security (Tor / VPNs), and that it does touch on some taboo subjects (Retaining a Lawyer / Police Methodology), it still feels like this was written as a gimmick for script kiddies who have dreams of hacking the NSA.In hindsight, I should have seen the clickbait-esque nature of this book from the very start - Anonymous mask on the front, "Evade NSA Spying" tagline at the bottom, and referencing the contrived and sensationalized "Dark Net" directly in the title - but at my time of purchase I was looking for the most recent publication in this area, and my short search landed here. While this book can provide overarching guidelines of how to handle your personal security, it is nothing that you couldn't find for free on the web. I would not recommend this book to a friend.

Very interesting
Not only is this book very educational, but I love the fact that it contains real world examples, allowing us to see how past mistakes were made and how to avoid them. Highly recommended. Just wish it included more things about the Deep and Dark Web, was kind of hoping to learn about its history though I guess the book's purpose was to inform and not give history lessons (other than the examples used)

Could be deeper
It was ok but I would have preferred a little more depth.

There's a lot of good information in this book
There's a lot of good information in this book, though it's highly disorganized. Just look at the table of contents. The author even says at the beginning of one of the chapters that he forgot to talk about something regarding a previous topic. What? Was this book written on a typewriter? There's no reason he couldn't spend a little time at least to organize the chapters. My other gripe is the lack of actual how-to's. Most of the time, the author just gives a high level description and provides a link to a service. Finally, there's a few times that makes me think the author has a less-than-expert level of knowledge of the book's contents, especially with sentences like, "PGP comes into play because it uses a very strong method of encryption called cryptography." And here's another from the chapter called Combining tor with a VPN: "And make sure that the VPN using some form of encryption." Seriously? "All-in-all, however, it's a great resource on Internet privacy all in one place, so you don't have Google/Duckduckgo search everything.

Word for word on DeepDotWeb
This book is essentially taken from [...], which articles were written in early 2014. Quote anything on Google and that website and several others will appear. This isn't showing any new content and was totally misleading. I should have just went to the website for all of the information.

How to protect your privacy - seriously!
A lot of really useful strategies for maintaining privacy on the internet, some of them common sense, some of them fairly technical. An interesting read.

Good overview of becoming anonymous online
Well written and researched, lots of good and interesting material about keeping your identity hidden and avoiding online surveillance. Would have liked to see some info on how secure online banking is, etc.

Read it
My programming/ computer knowledge is virtually nil. However I'm aware and irritated by the way "authorities/ third parties" have access to pretty much all we do. I reject totally their argument that if I'm innocent I have nothing to fear from them. This book is very clearly written and it's made me understand enough to make me want to give the Dark Net security a tryPS according to the book I shouldn't even write this review but I have because I want more people to be aware

Average
Mildly interesting, with very limited scope on what actually happens on the darkweb. More of a book dedicated to serious social aspects of the internet today.
