Very pleased with this bag so far
Very pleased with this bag so far! I'm about 5'2-3 (and female) and the bag doesn't overtake me. So far I've packed it almost full with supplies: sleeping bag, tent, good sized first aid kit. Lantern. And a few other things, still with plenty of room. One thing I loved about this bag was the pockets! And when it arrived I was not disappointed. There are a rinds pacified Ickes on the sides /!; a lot of secret pockets in the top cover that I thought was a nice touch. It was obvious this company took time to think of storage anywhere possible, which is great. The color was a little hard to judge, and I would judge it off of the other reviews with pics. It's like a very light burnt orange. Gender neutral, and looks rugged. I like it a lot!Haven't yet used used it on a long term hike. But it seems fairly sturdy and it will hold up. There are a lot of adjustable straps that make it fit to the body, and are easy to use. The rain cover has its own little pocket which is nice, though it doesn't perfectly match the bag (not a big deal just thought I would mention). Will update my review when I take it in a hook few hikes. But from the looks of it. It looks great and sturdy. Especially for the price!

great for the money, perfect for 2 night trip.
great for the money, perfect for 2 night trip.I have taken this on several trips in California. From Joshua Tree to Yosemite, this pack is perfect for 2 night trips. My typical backpack load is a little hefty, around 50lb. I am about 5'9". I carry a Teton 0 F/-18C Sleeping bag (probably more rated for 20F comfort), a bass pro tent, jacket, food, lantern, flashlights, and lots of water (2 32 Oz contigo auto seals, and a camelbak 3L backpack).Be ready for your hips or shoulders to be sore with a lot of weight, because you probably aren't used to it and you need the pack really tight on your hips to take the weight off of your back and shoulders. I end up putting my hand between my chest and the straps and bending forward a bit, it seems very comfortable, as well as using 2 hiking poles, it is very nice to use hiking polls and let your arms feel some of the work out too.Although you can ration water, I drink plentifully, and therefore require a refill daily for my excursions. I end up packing my pack pretty darn full between all the redundant gear and water and food. The tent and sleeping bag go on the outside, which torques your back more than you should be doing. Next time, I am going to try going with a hammack to save space, weight, and help my back out a little bit. The sleeping bag is too big for the compartment underneath, so I store towels, socks, pillow, and paracord in the bottom zipper.Unfortunately this pack got destroyed on my motorcycle because a strap was flying in the wind and got caught in my sprocket. It ripped the top part up and spilled all my stuff out onto a freeway like dumping your laundry out of a sack. I would really not recommend using this on a motorcycle due to that risk. Other than that, the backpack lasted very well, the zippers felt strong, the straps were good, and it was comfortable. I hope to go on longer trips later in life, and as long as I can go with others who can share the load of tents and lamps, I have no doubt I could ultimately camp 5 days with this (although that is a stretch).my only complaint is that there are no side zippers to access the bottom of the pack, so you have to be aware of the order of items you stuff in the sack. You should be able to access the main compartment from the bottom compartment but I forget, and I wouldn't count on it. Other than that pet peave, everything else is great.

ready for adventure
i ordered this pack for bonnaroo in june but i also purchased this thing since im planning on hiking and camping more. this is my first pack that ive bought like this. first i read the reviews on here just to give me an idea on what to look for. im not a big guy, 5'9" and 155 so this was good for a first pack. upon arrival, i took it out of the box and slung it on, making adjustments as i went along. right off the bat perfect comfort. then i followed the instructions for adjustments. i also like how the aluminum frames for the back is removable and you can bend it to conform to the arches of your back and the shoulder straps are adjustable as well. so after making the adjustments, wow. i love how its not too bog and bulky but plenty of room for what i need it for. first thing i had to try out was the sleeping back compartment. it is seperate from the main compartment but you can unzip the seperating section so you can make the main compartment go allthe way to the bottom if you dont plan on keeping your sleeping back in there. the sleeping bag compartment is a bit of a tight squeeze for my sleeping back. i have a lighter bag, forget about trying to stuff a heavy sleeping bag in there lol. the pack has a TON of extra compartments, and loop straps for carrabiners for extra carry on and easy access to things like a flashlight and such. the build in rain fly is also a bonus and cant wait to test it out. a seperate compartment for a 3 liter bladder for my camelback in the main compartment with exit holes and a clip for the shoulder straps. quality slooks to be pretty tough. ive read a lot about people having problems with clips breaking, they look like they will but if just careful im sure it will be fine. i will update this when i actually get the chance to use it and put it to the test.update 9/1/12a little update since ive recieved this pack. this was great for bonnaroo and ive taken it hiking at bear mt NY. performed well so far and have not been disappointed.
