Worked well for a 520 pitch chain on a Yamaha R6.
As the title says I used this to replace the chain on my 2001 Yamaha R6. Went from the stock chain (532 pitch) to a 520. I used it to break the OEM chain, shorten (removed 2 links) my new chain and to press on the new master link and mushroom the rivets.I think I know where people are going wrong and causing this tool to break. This is my first time doing a motorcycle chain and using a tool like this but, I almost made a mistake myself which I am sure would have lead to the tool breaking. IN fact I started to tighten the tool in order to push out a link pin on my OEM chain and something just told me to back off and look at what I was doing. I knew the tool was susceptible to breaking due to all of the reviews not just for this tool but the dozens of other tool sets that look exactly like it on Amazon. So why would it break? I believe it would break if too much stress were to be placed on the pin if the pin was not perfectly straight. If you press the pin in directly straight, then the tool is a strong as a solid piece of metal as thick as the pin is long. But on an angle, the pin is only as strong as a piece of solid metal as thick as the pins diameter if that make sense. So it comes in the box semi assembled. DO NOT use it as it comes assembled in the package. For my chain for instance, I switch out the pin for the thickest one in the set, BUT the key is, you have to change the end that the pin protrudes from to fir the size of the pin you are using. That's the key. If you use the correct tip with a hole the same size as the pin you use, the pin cannot wiggle side to side, thus it cannot be pushed at an angle other than straight up and down and I contend that if you set it up right, you wouldn't be able tp break this tool by over tightening. So those are my thoughts. I just couldn't bring myself to spend over $100 for one of the expensive chain tools considering I may never even have a need to use it more than once. PLUS there were reviews that stated it worked find without breaking so I had to assume that with proper setup, the tool would hold up to working on the size chains it advertises. To summarize, before you try to push a chain link pin out or mushroom a rivet, just make sure that you can't wiggle the pin side to side. If it moves back and forth more then just a tiny bit, STOP, re-assess and figure out why the pin wiggles and what you can do to prevent it using the various attachments included. Don't just try to brute force it as they will inevitably lead to tool failure. Everything you need is in the kit. I was shocked at just how easy it was to break the OEM chain which is thick and heavy. It only took a couple of half-turns with a standard 3/8" drive ratchet and a 14mm socket before you could feel the pin break through and move and then your basically done and the finish line is in sight. Good Luck!

works great if you're mechanically inclined in the least
idk what people are doing with these things to leave poor reviews but it seems hard to mess up. worked exactly as it should

Junk. Zero instructions
Push pins are soft metal they all mushroomed. If your using this to rivet a pin it's the Ball bear tip on the rivet side and the dishes pin on the back. Would of been helpful if this came with instructions for which tips to use. Took 2-3hours to rivet my chain with this junk and the took wrecked itself in the process.

high quality tool at a great price
This thing is built solid. High quality item. I ground the face of the rivet on the chain off with a dremel before pressing out the pin. I believe this is common practice with any chain tool. This thing has every tool for the job 5 stars

Very easy and intuitive to use
Very easy and intuitive to use, did the job quick and painlessly. And then my chain driven bike got written off and I replaced it with a shaft driven bike. Really planned ahead there!

This is a wrought product tool!
This chain tool looks like it was dropped about 20 times with the dings to show it and the screw mechanism barely turns with great effort, the bad fit and terrible finish throughout is about a 2 on a 10 for perfect scale!! THIS IS A "C" GRADE CHAIN TOOL AND NOT MUCH ELSE, WHICH IS WHY I IMMEDIATELY REQUESTED A REFUND AND WENT WITH A DIFFERENT CHAIN TOOL COMPANY!!!!

It Works but probably only for one use
I used this to put a chain on a vfr800. I did lube up the tool well before using it. The tool worked as expected but I noticed that the portion of the tool to rivet the chain looked almost worn out by the time I finished using it. My chain has been just fine since I installed it on my bike but you’d have to purchase another piece to rivet another chain. I don’t think I’d recommend since if you own a bike you’ll be replacing the chain every so often and it would be a pain to keep buying one of these tools. I’d say it’s probably better to buy a better quality unit. If you’d in bind sure but otherwise spend a little more and get something more durable.

Soft metal components warp/deform/break on first attempt.
I was really hoping the reviews of these low cost chain breaker kits were wrong...but unfortunately, they are all true. I was able to break the chain, but not before one of the link pusher pins squished into a small, useless ball inside the mechanism. It DID work well for seating the master link, as those components are the hardened black metal. However, any of the silver metal deforms under the slightest amount of pressure....including the rivet head. I am extremely disapointed in this product, and it would take only the barest changes of material to make useful. Clearly, the company mass producing these is more interested in giving you hardened tool steel on the handle but soft stuff where it actually needs to do work. Deeply disapointed.

Didnt work on rivet link
This product seems well made, it broke the chain no problem but it couldnt rivet the chain link. The Metal compressed instead of riveting 🤦♂️

Only buy if you are willing to modify it
While on first glance, it appears to be a sturdy product, the riveting die is useless. The material is far too soft, and is deformed by the chain pin.Because i have the tools, I has able to machine back the original punch material, drill it out, and replaced it with a piece of a broken 7/32" drill bit, sharpened to resemble a center punch. This worked like a charm!!I will be keeping it, as I will not be using it too often and I do not wish to invest in a more expensive kit.

I couldn't imagine riveting a chain without this tool.
I used it on my 525 motorcycle chain and it works great. Just watch a good YouTube video on how to use and you'll have no issues. I don't know what some people are complaining about. Best money spent for a professional looking rivet.
