Can i store the pip as a preset and recall it to preview rather than directly recall it to PGM?

I have not tried it, but I do believe the PIP can be called up in both Preview and Program.

I want to be able to stream 7 sometimes 8 cameras into a fixed layout. is that possible with an overlay using this unit? [think critical role]

Of course, the V-8HD will take input from up to 8 cameras. Overlay? That could have several definitions. You can set up a target space of custom dimensions, and place any of the 8 inputs into it. It may be limited in sizes, since its primarily for PinP. I know it will allow 2 inputs, but I am not sure of more. There may also be a cropping issue. There is considerable flexibility in this unit if you want to take the time to set up the programs manually. Thats what we did.

Whats the quality vide out put? 1080p?

1080p or below it's based on what settings you choose
