Hear things for MILES!
This is an excellent scanner antenna. I can hear police and fire on my pocket scanner mounted in my car from stations 20-25 miles away very clearly! The other thing that was really nice is that the RG-58 cable was very thin and was very easy to hide along the header of my SUV, as it would be a car. The only complaint I have is that the length of the cable is too short, (at least for an SUV, I have a 2014 GMC Terrain), to reach from the back window to the mid armrest, so I had to purchase a RG-58 extention, once I installed that, all was great! I have driven my car up to 90MPH, and the antenna held like cement! I have owned other TRAM Antenna and I think they are great!

It is (or was) a good antenna for 800 mhz...
I bought this antenna as I wanted something that would work good for local reception-not something with boat loads of gain where I would pick up signals from two counties away. It seemed to work pretty good on VHF and UHF bands but it really shined for reception of an 800 mhz repeater that other scanners with outside antennas would receive only marginally. Put it on a mini cookie sheet near a window for 800 Mhz stuff and check it out.

Great value for the money!
I have recently purchased two TRAM antennas, and I find them to be high quality. Some folks like to blather on about this or that "name brand" (like "designer" clothes!), but an antenna is basically just a metal stick, and the only variables are the quality of construction, and the metals used. TRAM is right up there with the trendy labels! Don’t be taken in by trendy names. TRAM is great stuff!

It was mounted inside the car and it did a wonderful job of receiving the trunk radio systems as well ...
I definitely have noticed an improvement in receiving some of the weaker signals that we're not being picked up prior to hooking up the antenna. I bought two of them and took one on a road trip. It was mounted inside the car and it did a wonderful job of receiving the trunk radio systems as well as the conventional frequencies programmed into my scanner. I'm only comparing the new antennas to the rubber ducky style antennas, some that are supposed to be real good, and I'm not comparing them to my outside antennas on the mast. My only complaints are I wish that the coax cable was a little bit longer. The length is okay but I could use just a little more cable in some situations. And I don't think the antenna does a good job in the military air band. I haven't had enough time to do a real good test and confirm this. But from what I have been able to test it doesn't seem to be very good in the 225 to 380 MHz range. It still works but I don't think it's working better than the different rubber ducky antennas I've checked it against.

Good wide band antenna.
Tram makes products that dont break the bank while obviously maintaining QA staff. This antenna worked perfectly for a radio scanner in my truck. Purchased a diamond for my dual band radio, so i did not have to worry about SWR.

Small but very good
Thought the base would be bigger but it’s actually quite small. Regardless the magnet is quite strong, held on in 70+ mph driving. If yours doesn’t seem strong just take another magnet and rub them together and it will help the strength. Reception is much better as well. The stock antenna was alright for closer range, but with this antenna I can pick up much farther away. My scanner has svc band scanning and can easily pick up air traffic on this antenna. I mostly listen to rail traffic and pick up crews over a mile away as well as the dispatch. Only slight negative with this is the cable is a bit short to run through the truck completely hidden. It can be completely hidden but there’s not much left so the scanner needs to be placed farther back. Overall it’s really a good, low price extension for a small scanner.

Fell apart after 10 months outside, not even on a vehicle
Fell apart after 10 months outside, not even on a vehicle. I mean, it's not like it was in a windy environment, literally at ground level on a metal bar, and the top antenna part fell off the magnetic base... I didn't expect much but I was still let down.

big difference
Huge difference in reception going to this antenna mounted on my roof compared to the back of scanner antenna.
