Dose this item have a charger that comes with it

It comes with a small DC/USB charging cord. You won't need it much as the charge lasts a very long time with moderate use. I've had mine for 10 months now & I've charged it once.

Does anyone know if you can use normal alkaline batteries in this torch?

No! Beware of the battery going flat. It is impossible to re-charge using conventional methods.

Where is the charge indicator light supposed to be.none on the light i have just received and none on the charging cable.how am i supposed to know if

Ca you charge any other way? I also can not see the red charging light, it has come with a loose USB cable, or rather the USB end is broken..
