Beginner's Guide
This book is great for the beginner who doesn't know how to keep their work organized. It did give a lot of great websites to help you use to organize your research.

Book Title is Misleading
This book was not exactly what I was looking for. Based on the title, I thought it would be about the tools available to organize paper and digital research. It did include some of that information, but it was really geared more towards preparing for various genealogy-related activities. That being said, there are some good tips, but just not useful for me.

Not my favorite
This book provides a nice outline of how important organization is to keeping things straight and prevent duplication of work. My main issue is the fall back on this and other books to say - everyone has their own way of organizing and you need to find what works best for you. I get that, but the reason I bought the book is because I am unable to find a system on my own for organization that I think is effective and will encompass all the things I may not have thought about since I am in the early stages of this hobby. I would prefer the author set out a system for file naming, storage, folders, etc. and say "this is what works for me." This book may be just what the doctor ordered for some, just not my favorite though. This isn't to say the book isn't well laid out or thought through, I just prefer something more specific.

Wealth of Information
I got a lot of useful information from this book though some things were a bit outdated (as expected with technology). I especially like the information on using Evernote!

Great Resource for Genealogists
Organize Your Genealogy: Strategies and Solutions for Every Researcher is easy to read, filled with good suggestions and plans, and is a must read whether you are a novice or experienced genealogist. The author has had years of experience as a genealogist and his strategies for research are tried and true. He also discusses applications in depth for each area of research with many links. The book also contains an appendix for forms and a link to download the forms from FamilyTree. If you are interested in genealogy, this book should be on your reference shelf.

Excellent resource for the overwhelmed newbie
The book is filled with a combination of best practices for staying organized in general, and a ton of resources and strategies specific to genealogy. When I recently started researching my genealogy, I was quickly overwhelmed by all of the resources and conflicting information I found. I have spent more time trying to make sense of the information than doing the research itself.Having just finished this book, I'm confident that I'll be far more efficient during the time I spend doing research, get much better results, and have fun doing it. And I look forward to trying out several of the tech tools and genealogy resources the author has recommended.

Getting all of your "poop" in a group is imperitive!
You cannot adequately begin your researching for ancestors until you have yourself, and your research organized so you won't keep wondering, "Where is that info I had of Grandpa, etc.?" This book helps guide you along many issues you need to have ready BEFORE looking for your ancestors. There is nothing more frustrating than to have an important document, only to not be able to lay your hands on it when you need it. Begin your genealogy search journey with this book.

Been looking for a book like this forever.
I love everything about this book. I have been scouring the web for a book to help me organize all the paper trail and research that comes with researching family history, but to no avail until now. I love the layout, the format and it is so easy to read. Each chapter deals with a different aspect, even going into how health & psychological well being can affect our searching ability. Although I have been doing family history as a hobby for years, I found lots of useful tips and ideas to implement and other ways of organizing my research. I would really recommend this book to anyone, new or not to family history.
