As delivered this had a dangerous and unrevealed wiring fault which made it potentially lethal. When I contacted the supplier they said that pre delivery test procedures were in place but in my view the fault proved that the procedures are either inadequate or simply were not followed.In summary, the earth wire of the supplied flying lead from the awning was not properly connected inside the supplied extension connector and had fully contacted with the adjacent live terminal. The attached photo simply shows the earth wire free of the ferrule/terminal and you will need to accept my direct observation that the loose earth wire was indeed pushed hard against the live terminal. It is assumed this occurred when the connector outer cover was screwed down on assembly at the factory. When connected to the power supply this made the awning case and all directly connected metalwork LIVE. This did not trip the circuit breaker because this was on the awning side of the connector and thus there was no return connection between the fault and the circuit breaker. The fault was only found when I touched the powder coated awning case and because of the powder coating I only got a 'tingle'. Had I touched one of the bolts on the awning case I would have received a direct 240v. It is worth noting that at this time I was stood on top of an aluminium step ladder, adjusting the pitch angle of the awning.By good fortune I didn't receive a full shock. I also had the competency to investigate and correct the fault.Whether you have already fitted one of these or intend to purchase then as a minimum inspect the connections inside the extension connector.At the time of the incident I had plugged the supplied extension cable directly into an outside power outlet which was some few meters away, and had only used the supplied extension for initial setup.I ultimately fitted an outside/weatherproof socket within a couple of feet of the awning so eliminated the extension connector entirely.The above said, apart from this fault the unit appears to be very well made and in my opinion definitely represents good value for money.

Good quality and instructions, I opted to use resin to fix the bolts and plugs in as per the instructions said as I wasn’t sure how good the bricks in my wall are.
