Unfortunately, no it will not. I own both a Wii and a Wii U and tested this out. I'm afraid that if you want a controller that works for the Wii you might need to find a Wii Classic Contoller. However, it is a fine controller if you just need it for the Wii U. Hope that I could be of some assistance.

Could this connect to my phone via bluetooth?

Sorry, not that I know of. I don't even think the standard Nintendo version can connect to your phone via Bluetooth unless it's modded.
