With my height and these extendable loppers, I can trim 10 feet without a ladder.Handles can be locked by turning clock or counter-clock-wise.Others have mentioned unlocking during use, but if I lock both handles in same direction, and firmly, I don't have any problem. I do wish there were a little friction against opening. When I finish a cut and let go of one handle, the other flops all the way open, so hard to carry by one handle without taking care to position so gravity pulls the handles toward each other.

Good tool for what it is. Very sharp and easy to use. love the extending handles. Originally I wanted a ratcheting sheers but this is great for the price!

This looper is THE Best. It can clean cut a two inches diameter tree branch easily. I Bought this tool to trim down a 15 feet tall peach tree, and it gets my job done fast and effortless. Highly recommend.

They're not bad cutters it's just that the handles won't tighten down and slide up and down. They are usable and will cut through some fairly large branches, if it weren't for the handles, it would be a great cutter. I had to deduct a couple stars for those.

It seemed to be good until the handles wouldn't lock in place.
