How About A Sin Tonight?

Complex portrayal of emotions and love. Sometimes brazenly philosophical. If we are able to unearth the essence of love somewhere below the various layers of emotional facade then can we understand the writer.

How about a sin tonight is a novel about Bollywood that tries to paint the film industry in dark colours. It is a story of five people with dreams of stardom, intent on fulfilling their dreams at any cost. Three-fourths of the book comprises back stories of the five characters obsessed with Bollywood, and the last one-fourth brings them together to set up a climax.The book starts with a sex scene that is remarkable in its lack of elegance and subtlety, which then sets the tone for the rest of the book. What follows is a stream of sleaze and poor taste (my personal view). While one of the five - a legendary actor called Shahraan - succeeds on the back of a string of lucky breaks that are far from credible, the rest of them have to resort to sordid means.An issue I had with the novel was the language, which I found hard to stomach. Not that I am averse to violence and sex in crime fiction (I rated The Godfather 5 on 5), but I found the deliberate overuse of the f-word tasteless. Unnecessary profanities used to paint a sordid picture detract from the flow and the story. A fixation with sex is evident through the book. For instance, the crowd at Bombay VT station is described as 'a gush of sperms'.Having said that, I found idea of taking back stories of five characters and entwining them to set the stage for conflict to be a good one. One side character - a prostitute in one of the back stories - is interesting. She casts a shadow decades into the future.Overall, it is not a book I would recommend unless one is obsessed with Bollywood, and wishes to wallow in a fictional account of its squalor. Awesome twists ,plots ,n how each smaller stories n cast is interconnected with each other.. but really need patience to read this as curiosity builds up after every new character to know the end very fast..

There is not a single doubt that the book has been categorized under the criteria of masterpiece work of the author.The book goes through several rides of emotions, love,hate, desire and suspense.The story as per as start amazing and slowly will get on your nerve. I personally experience that the book is actually quiet good to teach the lesson of life. you must definitely go for it.

Amazing writing ability shown by novoneel..the narrative skills makes you complete the story in one go..the interlinks between the characters shows the talent of the author..u can feel all the emotions of life in this single piece of story-from romance to betrayl to revenge to guilt,etc...and what to say about the end?? Just unexpected!!
