Q: can this be used for a straight razer?

It "can" be used for a straight razor and I myself have done some laps on it but if you are planning on trying straight razor shaving do yourself a favor and buy a razor strop. The Fromm Illinois 127 is a pretty decent budget friendly option, a little fast with low draw before it's broken in or treated but I like that and it has a linen strop as well. I wouldn't pass on this strop though as I found it to be great quality and I viewed it as I'm buying the crom. Oxide and getting a bonus small strop with it. Even if you buy a razor strop buying the green crom. Oxide is a good idea and this imo is the way to go. I personally use very old denim pants legs for the compound rather than using it on my strops. I would love to have a 20"-23" strop made from the leather I received with this order and in a pinch or travelling I would consider using this one it just takes some time and patience considering its size. If you're not getting a snag free smooth shave with a SR don't give up, learn to hone or send the razor out to be honed and invest in a decent strop to use before or after every shave.

It's just as you expect it to be, think it will last a long time, perhaps a tad expensive coming from America, the exchange rate to Uk not very good (2021) but it works well.
