Dorman 80673 Front Driver Side Exterior Door Handle Compatible with Select Honda Models, Black and Chrome

Fit perfect on my 2000 honda civic, i liked the chrome but couldn’t find more than one so i wrapped it in black vinyl and it’s still holding up after a few years. I’m just surprised it made it through the winter

This handle is of coarse the driver's door handle to a 1997 Civic which for some reason doesn't call for this handle through the Amazon parts ID program that they use for a Civic.I was sick of the cheap replacement handles that you find everywhere online, that tend to break in extreme cold weather ( I am in West Michigan )My cheap one just broke and I thought about looking up dorman's replacement on the doorman site.This is what it called for , but Amazon didn't agree, so I ordered it anywayThis one had a chrome handle which was also metal instead of plastic ... What a difference , and best of all it fits with a reasonable priceShipping and handling was right on que with Amazon standards.I have better confidence in this handle lasting closer to stock Honda than most cheap handles on line

I gave this 4 stars because the color is a bit off (barely noticeable) and minor fitment issues.I have this installed on a 2000 civic ex, factory black paint. Not sure what happened with previous reviewer's order, but the handle I received was black as stated in description.However, the handle is not an exact match for the factory color. On my model civic, door handles are painted the exact gloss color of the car and the dorman handle is an "almost" flat black. It is nothing any other person would ever notice getting in your car. Possibly if you had a 4dr (i have a coupe, so not an issue), but even then it might be negligible.Installation is pretty straight forward if you've done it before. If not, you may have to fight with it a bit, but it's easily doable (you have to "spread" and hold open the retainer clip at the top and then pull down from the bottom with needle nose pliers). The fit of the locking mechanism isn't as exact as Honda of course, but fits well enough. Clip that comes with the dorman part isnt as tight a fit as original, so just use the one on the car.I have had this installed for over a year and it still functions well and looks fine. No fading paint, or anything broken. One additional point, that's barely worth mentioning, is this handle does not feel as solid as the original, although it has not given me any difficulty.Most honda dealers will sell this for around 40-75 dollars matched to your paint with your VIN which isn't bad, but the 11 bucks or so you'll pay for this isn't a bad way to go at all.

I actually had to buy this product twice because the first one broke. The second one slide off it's handle after 1 month. My super cool soon to be brother-in-law/certified mechanic fixed it for me. He said it was a little to short for the door handle but it's been working ever since he fixed it the second time. I'd say your taking a 50/50 chance BUT considering the price auto shops and auto parts dealers charge you IT IS WORTH THE RISK.

Very cheap material broke very easily

Handle fit perfectly, my only issue is that I ordered a all black one and after being a day late with delivery they sent a black / chrome handle ... Still happy though

Feel on the cheap side so far so good I’m just gentle on opening door
