Great starter set and value.
A great way to get into the table top war game "Bolt Action"This has everything you'll need to learn how to play, and enough pieces for small 2 player games including a good quality manual, dice and counters, a couple of pieces of terrain, 1 USA Airborne squad with MMG, and 1 German Panzergrenadiers with half-trackYou'll obviously want and need some gear to get everything assembled (hobby knife/snips, files, plastic cement or super glue) and then painted (white primer, then some sets of your choice, I like the Vallejo paint sets, you can get small paint sets with exactly what you'd need, like a US armor and infantry paint set, and a wehrmacht infantry paint set, usually around $20 per set.)The models have a lot of pieces and you can assemble them with all kinds of accessories depending how you want to play your faction, and how you want them to look: rifles, smg, grenades, different pouches, different heads, different arm positions, etc.Everything was good quality, and as expected. The scale is about the same as Warhammer, but as they are realistic humans, they are a bit smaller and more fragile than that games pieces. The overall detail on the models is good, but I did have some pieces, especially rifles, and ammo belts, that broke while removing from the plastic sprue. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, because it works with other minis and models I've built, but Tamiya plastic cement seems to just not want to work 10% of the time, and the model will keep falling apart. Also, it can be a little hard to figure out how some models are "supposed" to go together, like some arms won't work with some bodies or leg configurations. And I had to find pictures online of how the half-tracks gun was supposed to be assembled (sometimes instructions for models cam be hard to decipher, not just here, but in general) Some poses could have been better, like no pose for the German MG gunner to actually be in a firing position, and seemed like a lot of the available poses for Germans especially were the model mid run. But that is simply preference, and you're still getting a great value here, and it serves its purpose and gives you a tiny corps to start the army you like, and to battle a friend.

A great jumping-on point for a solid game.
A great starter set that truly includes everything you need to get started. A couple-few squads of infantry with a lieutenant for both sides, and a vehicle for the Germans. You can easily expand either army out to 1k points with only a few purchases, but the contents of the box should suffice for getting your feet wet and learning the ropes. The inclusion of a good size terrain piece(s) with the ruined farmhouse, the special required order dice, all of the pin and status markers you'll probably ever need, and a full length unabridged rulebook make this a great jumping-on point. Great hobby value as the included infantry have a lot of little flair on the sprues and can go together multiple ways. There's even a decal transfer sheet for the vehicle markings. As to the game itself, it plays really well, with the order dice system keeping a lot of variability in the flow of the turn and both players engaged at all times rather than more traditional "I go-You go" games. The system is mostly down-to-Earth with a few more "cinematic/gamey" elements. It plays fairly quickly, and the grounded, historical theme means that it's very easy to tell what's what on the table as a player or observer-- no crazy "gotcha" abilities that you didn't know his magical goblin had or whatever, it's men with small arms and vehicles and crew-served weapons to support them. Certainly enough flair and theme for each nation to keep it interesting from the desperation weapon of Soviet mine dogs to the flawed innovation of the German tracked mine, and special rules that reflect the quirks of each of the major armies. All in all a solid value. Would recommend this to any tabletop miniatures gamer with an interest in WWII.

Absolutely Awesome
This was my first time building miniatures of any kind. That being said the rest of this review is the opinion of a novice who really knows nothing about the "proper" way to build miniatures. This set comes with a rulebook, a half-track, 12 German infantry, 24 American infantry, 2 ruined buildings, and various markers and dice necessary for playing the game. I built the half-track first. It took me a couple of hours, but it was also the most complicated miniature in the box. All of the infantry models and the "houses" took me another few hours to put together. All in all, you could have the whole set finished in one day. Now, a side note on equipment. I cut all of these out with a craft knife, but The Army Painter sells a hobby set that comes with side clippers, some brushes, a file, and some basic paints. I didn't know this at the time but side clippers make the job ten times faster, and they have much smaller chances of accidentally cutting or marking your miniatures. For the glue, I used Starbond EM-150 Medium, Premium CA. It comes in several different sizes. I bought the two ounce and I've put together 144 infantry and a half-track with the same bottle and it isn't even half empty yet. NOTE: the glue is thin and watery; it comes out very easily but you can't use too much or it will take a while to dry. I learned this the hard way. Another note on the glue, it dries EXTREMELY quickly when placed in the right amounts so always do a dry run with the pieces before you glue them. Overall, this set is a great start, but to really recreate battles you will have to get more figures.
