I am done. No longer buying from here...
I'm done. I'm no longer purchasing mochi or daifuku from here again. My first purchase was perfection and tasty. My second purchase was different because it was firm and suddenly gritty one of the packs which was concerning. Now, this is my third purchase and shame on me for not seeing the sign from my second purchase. I'm OFFICALLY DONE BUYING THIS. I rather go to an asian supermarket and get it from there so I can actual see them before I purchase it.What is this...?? This time it's very very firm and some of these mochis are brown to blackish. I didnt want to open it but I had to so yall can see what I'm reviewing. The moment I open this, it has an unfamiliar smell that I had to trash them because I was afraid to eat it. The other to packs, they're very firm as well and the paste is very gritty-like. It's no longer the same consistency I remembered from my very first purchase and it was enjoyable and squishy. I'm sad now.

Received a number of inedible products TWICE
I'm really sad. I used to really love these, they were great. But now the quality is just unreliable. I ordered a batch a while ago and found a large number (all the pineapple and blueberry ones) were rock hard and completely inedible. I was like they'd been left on a shelf for more than a year. I was hopeful that it was a fluke, so I ordered another batch a few months later. All the blueberry and strawberry ones were rock hard this time. You can see what the insides look like there. Fortunately the others seem fine, but having 1/3 of the product I bought being completely and entirely inedible is ridiculous. It is a shame but I will have to find another source of mochi from now on. Shame on the seller for treating the products this way!

Like a gummy
Before you proceed anywhere on this page...STOP.Do you know what mochi is? (Hint: it's rice)Do you know what daifuku is? (Hint: it's sweetened mochi - basically)What if I told you rice could be made into something like a yummy gummy?Would yummy gummy-like treats filled with a thick, sweet, jelly-like paste interest you? What if that thick, sweet, jelly-like paste was made from beans?Ahhhh, you're running away? :( Oh well. Let's get on with it.I have yet only tried the mango/peach/pineapple package (as of this writing they're all gone) and one of the bean paste, and they are DELICIOUS. Granted, they came in a little smashed and very soft, but... I think I like them that way! They used real fruit juice concentrate for these, so rest assured you're not going to complain that you can hardly taste the difference between each one. The pineapple really SMELLS and tastes like pineapple, the peach really DO make me think of peaches, and the mango... well, to be honest, it's been so long since I had a mango, but it's what I think a mango would smell like. The bean paste ones, as with most Japanese treats, doesn't really taste like "beans." It just tastes sweet, and thick, and... yeah, it's difficult describing it. Nothing like barbecued beans. I thought I was being very daring by eating one, that it was something to brag about to my silly siblings, but it was kind of a let down. Oh well.I can't comment on the strawberry/blueberry ones yet, but I can get an idea from the smell that they won't disappoint. :)Anyway, I loved these. They are very sweet though, and I seriously doubt it's what a native Japanese would call "legit" daifuku, but until the day I can sample the real thing, this is probably the closest I'll get.

If you love super sweet things, go for it. If not, don’t waste your money
Honestly I’ve never had mochi before, but I guess I just expected it to be different. From a lot of other reviews, I don’t think this is real mochi. But regardless, I just didn’t like it. Just tasted like very fake fruit and not the good kind of fake. The texture also wasn’t very nice. But maybe someone else’s tastebuds will like them. I’m a sugar freak, but these were too sweet for me honestly. So just keep that in mind. Also, one thing is that some of packages were a bit squished. And if your expecting to have something inside all the mochi, you’ll be disappointed, because from I tasted and could see, almost none of the mochi had anything inside it.

Way too sweet!
I've had a variety of mochi and daifuku before, all ranging from different brands and varying quality. I was excited that I could order daifuku online at a reasonable price. These guys came swiftly and were very soft with a good shelf life. I would have adored these if it weren't for the cloying sweetness...and that's saying something since I have a sweet tooth.Yes, these are supposed to be sweet but good lord...its like eating a handful of gummies or jelly beans. Good daifuku isn't supposed to be like eating candy. If this is your first time with daifuku I'd honestly try another brand. If you still want to give these a try the red bean is the least sweet, followed by fruit and then the berry. It's ok if you want something sugary, but there has to be something better out there.

filling tastes/feels like jelly bean paste
these mochi are not as soft as other mochi i have had in the past, and the filling is very stiff with the consistency of smashed up jelly beans and has a very strong fake flavor. this mochi is WAY too sweet. I like mochi because i usually has a very subtly sweet, more delicate flavor, but this stuff is like american jelly bean candy. and the filling is gritty like the outer coating of jelly beans was mixed up with the softer interior of the jelly bean. seriously, these might be filled with ground up jelly beans.

I remember
These came fast. They came fresh. And they came delicious! I honestly had to ask a friend to hide the box from me because I kept going back to eat more of them. Come the next morning I find out that said friend ate the rest. I wanted to laugh and maybe cry that my friend liked them as much as me, but ate them all. Even writing this now, I'm remembering how sweet and delicious this mochi was, haha.
