Hi Maureen,I would recommend turning the system off, if you are running the system on battery as having it on consistently will run down the battery. If you have the system plugged into power then you do not have to turn the system off. Thanks for the question!

How many watts does this have?

Watts are issued by the source, not the speaker. I can tell you this, It will fill a large room with music without any problem. So, great for small gatherings. If you have a large gathering in an outdoor setting, this is not the speaker for you!

Does this work on windows 10? Win10 sees it but won't work.

Make sure you have bluetooth turned "on" on your computer. You can check by going to "settings" then "devices" , bluetooth, printers, mouse. Also there is a bluetooth button on the top of the speaker, make sure that's one also. Hope this helps
