if you play about 80 rounds in a year, how long will these tags last before they run out of battery life? Anyway to replace the batteries?

The wonderful thing about TAGS is they are battery-free. :) They are designed to last years. We have customers who are still using the tags they purchased from our original Kickstarter in 2015. Will these work if my clubs are Counterbalanced with weights at the butt end of the shaft?

Hello! Golf Pad TAGS are compatible with the majority of golf club grips. Some grips, including SuperStroke counterweight grips, do not have an opening in the back where a tag can be attached. Golf Pad Tags are not compatible with this type of grip. See included video for a quick demo on how tags are inserted into your club grip. If you are referring only to a putter, you can use TAGS all other clubs in your bag and chose to manually track your putts. We are working on a solution to overcome the issue in the future.

Any update with the ability to tap the tags to an apple watch to avoid having to tap it to your iphone? is there a shot detection function for watch?

Thanks for asking. At this time all NFC-equipped smartwatches (including Samsung's Galaxy watches) can only act as passive NFC transmitters. None of them are capable of scanning NFC tags. If/when watch manufacturers add tag reading capability, we'll be sure to support it in Golf Pad.

Do you have to be standing over your ball when you "tap" your club choice to phone? Such as at the tee box waiting my turn?

As was answered, you should be at your ball when you tap for your next shot. When teeing off at a new tee box, you’ll tap your Driver (or whatever club you’re using). After the shot, proceed to where the ball landed. You’ll notice that the app will show the total distance for that shot. As soon as you tap your next club (perhaps your fairway/approach shot), it will close out the last club, and start tracking the new club. Do this until you hole-out on the green. This is especially important when you putt… you may have only feet or inches between putts. Remember to Mark Hole Position!!! This signals that you are done with that hole, as well as properly record the hole position on the green, as it often changes from day to day. Good luck!
