Q: How deep is it? (the product description states 7.5" high & 8.5" wide, but doesn't list the depth) i.e. would it fit a 8" square container?

hi,8" square container would be ok. A ruler inside puts the bag at about 8.5" deep. The inside width is 8" and length is about 14 . the cooler bag dimention is 15*9.5*9.8inch.hope this is useful.

The handle is attached to the frame. You can take the bag off the frame, it has 6 Velcro loops that attach the frame.

No, it’s collapsible so it does not stand upright when empty.
