Love shows up.
This Author’s sense of humor from her social media account drew me to find her books. To be honest, I wanted to read about Tess the world-weary hunting dog. I am not surprised to find she writes, as beautifully as she does. This book and the next book with Bri both combine real life, falling in love, friendship, fear, devastation, anxiety, companionship. She has a genuine gift of storytelling, where I wanted to read each word, no skipping pages, no scanning chapters. This book highlights how important the concept of community is to an individual. It was interesting to want to find Myself going to this town. And lastly, the importance of mental health, that life isn’t just roses, moonbeams with love. It is communication and trust. These books are beautiful.

This was such a lovely read! I found myself smiling at all the right moments, which is always a win in my book. Daniel was an absolute gem from start to finish—Abby Jimenez truly nailed his character. His warmth, kindness, and charm made him so easy to love. The romance was incredibly heartwarming and felt so natural, making it easy to connect with the characters. I also appreciated the pacing—there weren’t too many fillers, just a wonderful blend of emotions, humor, and depth. While not perfect, it left me feeling happy, and that’s what matters most!

♾️ ⭐️
Every time I read an Abby Jimenez book, I think it’s my favorite of hers. She’s such a captivating writer, and I burn through her books so fast.I loved this story, I loved the main characters, and the HEA was everything. I thought Alexis and Daniel’s story was so sweet, and it was such an easy read. I cannot wait to read more from her, and see what she has next. The books are quick, have humor, and all around make you feel good. 10/10 would recommend.

Solid first read from Abby Jimenez
4⭐️ Solid first read from Abby JimenezThis was my first book by Abby Jimenez, and I was really impressed with her writing. The romance was sweet, funny, and well-paced—the dynamic between the FMC and MMC had all the charm I look for in a good romcom. That said, something about the FMC’s sense of entitlement rubbed me the wrong way. While it didn’t derail the story or the HEA, and she never lets it fully interfere with her growth or relationship, it was hard to ignore at times.Still, I’d definitely recommend this one—especially if you're planning to continue the series. A strong start with plenty of heart!

🔥 This book is EVERYTHING 🔥
A powerful story about different kinds of abuse; physical abuse, the loud, obvious kind that everyone recognizes, and the quiet, insidious emotional and mental abuse that often goes unnoticed and dismissed. It shows how the cycle of abuse shapes people no matter their background, education, or financial status, impacting relationships and normalizing toxicity in heartbreaking ways.At first, it draws you in with a heartwarming romance, but as the story unfolds, you start to see, really see, how deeply abuse has affected these characters. By the final chapters, it hits you. HARD!💔 If you don’t understand how emotional and mental abuse works, READ THIS.💔 If you’ve ever wondered why people stay, READ THIS.💔 If you don’t realize how toxic relationships affect children, READ THIS.💙 Daniel is perfect, he is EVERYTHING. Loving, patient, and willing to sacrifice so much for Alexis. But when the situation becomes harmful to him, he sets a boundary. It was a small thing, but I respected him so much for that. Alexis’s journey? Heartbreaking, frustrating, so important. Watching her navigate her past, toxic relationships, and growth is frustrating, bittersweet, and inspiring. This book may seem like just a romance (and it is a beautiful one!), but its deeper message about abuse, emotional manipulation, and breaking the cycle makes it essential reading.Abby Jimenez was already an auto-buy author for me, but now? Blind buy. No hesitation. ✨

Enjoyable
I thought this was a cute, light read, with a sweet romance. Yes, it did have some darker themes with the emotional abuse (of the heroine) and the physical abuse (of a side character), and I like how they were addressed without it weighing down the book.Pros: I really liked the hero. Daniel was sweet and sexy, and seemed to be pretty emotionally mature (not macho pushy or laying down ultimatums, etc) for someone younger and still trying to figure out his life. I loved the age gap romance with him being almost 10 years younger. It would have been a more interesting story if I felt that the heroine was actually acting her age. This would have made a better 'age gap' story. But as it was, she was pretty 'immature', emotionally, for her age, and Daniel winds up being the more emotionally stable adult. But more on that later.I also really liked the little town that Daniel was from and all the side characters that went with it. Some people were put off with the slight magical element, but to me it was so slight as to be almost imagined in the minds of two people in love. Either way, it wasn't enough to distract me from the story or the romance.Cons: I didn't really care for the heroine. For being 'older', she was emotionally immature and I wanted to scream at her. Yes, I know she had been subjected to heaps of emotional abuse, first from her father, then from her ex. But if a 37yo woman can't stand up to her dad when he tells her, "Young lady, you will not use that tone with me," like she is seven years old, I GOT PROBLEMS. And he kept insisting that she get back with Neil, it was nothing but a spat, and probably her fault to begin with. And Alexis does/says NOTHING! Ahhhhhhhh, I wanted to lose my mind. It was very distracting to me. If she was that demoralized from all the emotional abuse, how on earth did she end it with Neil in the first place (that happened, supposedly, before the timeline of the book). I just don't see it.My other con, and most of you can see this coming: IT WASN'T SPICY ENOUGH FOR ME. If I wanted to read a book with VERY LITTLE sex on the page, I would read some deep, chic lit book. But when I pick up a romance book, I need SOMETHING on the page. Don't just keep telling me about how amazing all the sex is....SHOW ME! Give me some description of SOMETHING other than Daniel is hot and Alexis is beautiful. There is that time-honored story telling tradition of SHOW, DON'T TELL. There was lots of evidence of Daniel's growing love, tenderness and care of Alexis. Show me some evidence of hot, sexy times. Now, I will take responsibility for some of this as I should have looked into the steam level for this author ahead of time. But, as I was reading it for my romance book club, I had to read it anyway, regardless. So I am going to bitch about the lack of spice. And penises. Sigh.Overall, there was a satisfying happy ending. But I am on the fence as to whether I will read another book by this author. Decision pending.....
