Shift Coupler, Late Style Heavy Duty, Compatible with Dune Buggy

Mine looked good in a 74 Westy. But I decided to replace all bushings and components in the shift linkage. This one is so much better built than the $8.00 alternative. Neoprene bushings and strong cross lock pin. It’s 4x expensive but worth only having to replace it once!! Very glad I did. Huge better difference on shifting!!

It fits well, you have to reuse your original bolt with it.

Seems to be made of good quality, took about 5-10 minutes to install. I did have to shave down the inside where my shift rod goes but if you're replacing one of these then you probably have the tools and the know-how to do that very easily 10 out of 10

These shift couplers on VW Bus last about 3-4 month. It’s been almost a year since installing. Super heavy duty, cast not pot metal!

Quality control seems to be a theme with Empi. I had to take a rat tail file and file off the burrs that Empi didn't want to remove from the bore that assembles to the transaxle shaft. Also, it looks like the bore was a wee bit too small, so I had to file out some material. It looks like Empi just runs a drill through this bore and not a reamer. Also the washer for the screw that secures the axle for the for shift rod has an inside diameter that is too big for the screw and spring washer. I had to add a 1/4 washer so the spring washer would have a good seating surface to spring against. Please Empi, take more care with your quality control.
