If you’re a fan of the Ludwig Supraphonic like I am then you won’t be disappointed by this snare drum.Sure, I guess Pearl kinda ripped off Ludwig with the aluminum alloy beaded shell. But I have to say, my favorite snare has always been my 14x6.5 supraphonic. I recently picked up this pearl sensitone and I can’t put it down! It’s a little more airy with a nice pop and open sound than my supra. It comes stock with ambassador heads which normally I would immediately change the snare head out for a reverse dot or two ply head but with the sensitone there is no need. It sings with the ambassador head and just maybe one moon glow for dampening. I feel like the sensitone has a little Lower of a pitch which really makes the drum sound great at medium tuning. For less than 400 bucks you can’t go wrong with this snare drum. I’ve become a big fan of Pearl drums as of late.I would say is stick with the alloy aluminum as opposed to the steel shell option if you’re going for that supraphonic kind of sound.Love this drum!
