These actually isolate noise and the size is akin to the original regular triple flanges.
These X-Large plugs are like what I would consider as the regular size for the triple flange plugs that come with an original purchase. They fit well. They're comfortable. They actually appear to block noise close to, if not as well as the original triple flange plugs that I got with a purchase about 20 years ago, and more recently with the ER2XR (purchased within the last 2 years). I don't expect them to hold up to use over time though as these appear to be like the new triple flange replacements in terms of the material thickness. They are thinner and see through. We'll see how it goes with my daily use. If you're accustomed to the triple flange, these will work well as a replacement for what is now being sold as "regular" size triple flanges, when in reality those are some what smaller resulting in a failure to isolate noise. Until etymotic produces an x-large triple flange replacement I think I will settle for these. But thankfully they DO isolate noise, which has always been a critical feature with their products.

9mm eartips are too small
I don't have big ears, but the 9mm eartips are too small. The sound is changed because the adhesion is not good. Had to buy 11mm eartips.

A nice alternative to the three flange.
Just got these and tried them with a set of ER2XRs for a while. Previous to this, I've been using the 3 flange tips. In comparison, these don't go as deep into your ear, so that may be good for many people, since that deep insertion is strange and uncomfortable for many. I found it to be not too big of a deal, but yes, these are a bit more comfortable in that sense. I may have gotten a size too large, because the left one feels a bit too tight and causes some pressure pain over time just inside the ear canal opening. Not sure why, because the 3 flange are the same size (L) and don't cause this issue. However, it is, overall, a bit more comfortable, especially for shorter times. It's also easier to insert and take out. Sound-wise, it sounds identical to me, and the isolation seems about the same. A bit pricey for three pairs, though.

Same great sound without violating your ears
I bought these so that I could wear my etymotic er3se's more casually and these do the trick! While etymotic claims that the noise isolation is the same as their triple flange tips, I personally did not find that to be the case. However, it might just be that I got eartips that are too small for my ear canals so your mileage may vary. I would recommend that you get one size higher than the size you use for the triple flanges to ensure a good seal since I found that these eartips don't go as far into your ear canals.

The most comfortable Etymotic silicon tip (for me)
This is the most comfortable tip for me amongst all Etymotic ear tips.
