LumaBella Cool Mist 1" Hair Straightener with Macadamia Conditioning Treatment & Cool Mist Infusion Channel

I have been a Chi advocate for years and am not one to write reviews but in my search for a new straightener for this XMas I wanted to see if there was something better because my hair is so darn frizzy and dry to the ends so I started doing research as well as look at consumer reviews so this is why I am writing one today. I came across this product lumabella straightener and was kinda skeptical about the reviews ( yes I am hard to convince regardless of the amount of good reviews) on the cool mist feature with the macadamia conditioning oil .. and the fact that it left your hair less frizzy, and felt softer and blah blah, because I was spending a good amount of money after all, so I started at instagram and YouTube for reviews and some of the people I follow had good things to say about it so all in all I decided to give it a try.After trying it for the first time I had a hard time applying the conditioning oil into the cartridge and spilled half of it which is unfortunate because it only comes with two in the box... but once I actually got to try it it was easy to follow the instructions on how to operate the cool mist feauture and heat settings. The straightener is a little heavier than a Chi but then again it carries a cartridge with liquid in it. It does heat up as fast as it says it does, it went from like cold to hot in a matter of seconds. I was actually very surprised my hair turned out looking good, my hair to the ends felt softer than usual, had like 80% less frizz, and lasted looking good for the entire day. As I tried it out more often I noticed that my hair doesn't get as oily as it used to, it's just soft and healthy looking and smells good from the oil. I love it now and really see the difference from my other straightener... sorry Chi you've been replaced. About the oil I spilled I contacted lumabella and they were so helpful in sending me some more oils at no charge to replace the one I spilled. I gotta to say this one is worth your money ( coming from a girl who never leaves good reviews). I attached a pic of my before and after a of my first two days trying it... don't judge my dry frizzy hair.

After doing extensive research online I decided I would give this flat iron a go. I am so glad I did because this is hands down the best flat iron I have ever used! I have previously owned a GHD and a CHI iron but they don't compare to this bad boy! Amazing! Such a great flat iron! The plates are smooth and glide down the hair without snagging. It's a little bulky and first because of the steam slots but it's easy to get used to and becomes a non-issue in no time! This iron heats up SO quickly - it's great! I have somewhat resistant hair and putting this on the middle setting is enough to straighten my hair. The original package comes with 2 tubes of oil for the cool mist reservoir. I am still on the first tube and have used the iron approx 8 times. I expect it may run out at about 12 uses. Great iron! Highly recommend!

Steam flat irons are definitely the best. They make your hair straighter and shinier and softer and it lasts longer that way. I thought the cool mist might be different, but it's really not. This iron is fine, very good even. I just have a really excellent steam iron with combing teeth to compare it to, so I'm not as impressed as I could be.

Mine is already broken. I purchased in Dec 2017. I thought it was a good idea for the oil to come out on my hair while I was straitening it, but that stopped working after the first tube of oil. A product as expensive as this should at least last a year.

Absolutely love this product!!!!!!!!Oh my gosh this is the best straightener I’ve ever had. I had this exact one for 6 years, but unfortunately it was stepped on & broke. Thank goodness I was able to buy again. I love the keratin refills, I feel like this straightener makes my hair look soft & healthy rather than heat damaged like other ones.

I liked it at first but within a year the rubber where u refill got very loose. Also when u put water it doesn’t work as described.

This is a great hair straightener. The ceramic plates feel better for my hair health than other types, and you can tell it is high quality. The cooling mist is an interesting and novel concept, one I am definitely interested in knowing more about! Anything I can do to help my hair be healthy but look good! I wish there was a little more explanation on the benefits of the mist and directional guidance on which way to hold it as I still find that part a bit confusing, but quality wise it's pretty tough to beat!

Purchased this when it went on sale. It’s a good quality straightener but they really overhype the cool mist bit. It’s not that great, but I’m yet to try it with the conditioner insert (I’ve been using water).

I'm always excited to try new things and this straightner is something I've never seen before. I've used 1 and 2 inch straighteners for years, and I've reviewed more than a few; while I can say this straightner tries to be innovative, it fails miserably.The straightner comes in a nice box which is reusable for storage. It it has a swivel cord which allows ease of use without tangles. The heat control is on the side and easy to adjust. I used a heat sensor device and it seems to be right on target. The build quality is just ok. The plastic on the bottom side feels a little cheap and has scratches from the manufacturing process. The top white coating has a few specks missing; nothing major but for a luxury device, it should be pristine. Other than the supposed cool air mist, this is your basic hair straightener.Onto the cold air mist and macadamia oil treatment:I read the directions and carefully removed the fill chamber of the device. The plug in the chamber was so hard to remove I had to grab pliers to grip the rubber stopper in order to open it. I twisted off the cap to one of the two Macadamia treatment oils and filled the chamber. There was a tiny leak from the wick end but nothing extreme. I had a little "oil" remaining in the tube which is resealable if you keep the part that twists off, (just stick the tip in the opening). I then turned on the straightener, to the second heat setting and pressed the cool mist button (you have to hold it down for a few seconds) The button lights up and pulsates while active. At this point I expected a lot of mist like one of my diffuser, but I swear it, there was so little mist that it was really hard to notice and it only came out of the side of the chamber with the opening and instead of spreading along the length. I straightened my untamely wavy thick hair and the result was just like any other mediocre hair straightener. There really was no difference. I went on to try this product several more times over 4 days. I re-read the directions in case I missed something and still was unable to get the mist feature to work in the way the product description describes. I also took a close look at the macadamia oil treatment and honestly I think it's just scented water, there's no oil and there's nothing in the treatment that leaves any sort of residue.One more note on this and other LumaBella straighteners. Again, I've reviewed many hair styling products over the past 2 years, probably a dozen in total. I always use them in my bathroom where I have one of those outlets with a safety breaker. Both Lumabella straightners that I tried made my bathroom lighting flicker. I've never had that with any other tool. So much so that I immediately tried one of my Kadori Straightners, to see if something might be wrong with my wiring, but no; it only happened with the Lumabella's. I don't know what it means, but in short; it makes me nervous.It's always possible that I received a dud. So if you want to try this, go ahead but keep the box.

**** Reviewed by my wife ****I have had a few hair straighteners over the years, all with varying levels of success but this is, without question, the best built, most effective and most feature layden of any of them.First off, the packaging and quality of construction are fantastic. Looks very rich and seems as though it is built to last.Secondly, I have never had an appliance like this that was so effortless to use and provided such amazing results. I have a minor wave to my hair and this iron took care of that, in a single stroke. Wanting to challenge this iron, I invited a friend over, who has thicker and more waved hair and it straightened her hair with the same amount of ease. Her exact comment was "I have never seen anything work this easily, that's crazy".This iron is loaded with finite features that help you to customize it to your needs and that is the 3rd element that sets it apart from the rest. It comes with natural oils that when used properly, spray a fine mist into your hair, ahead of the heating plates, to ensure that the hair is protected and hydrated against the heat. Along with that, there is a temperature guide in the booklet that instructs you as to how to select the proper temperature for your hair. This is easily accomplished with temperature "+" and "-" buttons and the temperature level is indicated by a series of LED lights on the handle.The kit comes with 2 tube of oils, which are fantastic but in a pinch, you can also use distilled water. The distilled water is a must because if you use regular tap water, you run the risk of blocking the misting jets with hard water or mineral deposits. The "misting" comes courtesy of a mini tank that stows in the handle of the iron. You remove it, fill it and replace it. Quick and simple.For my hair (medium thickness and shoulder length), we went through about a 1/3 of the reservoir and my friend, who's hair is mid back and thick, went through the remainder of the tank. We used about a quarter of the oil provided. We expected to use more but because of how quickly the hair was straightened, we did not have to use the iron for long. It should also be noted that the iron has a great feature whereby, it will not dispense mist unless the iron is on and the "tongs" are in the closed position, which is to say that they are in the ironing mode.This iron feels very comfortable in the hand and is easy to weild, left handed or right handed and it has a nice locking feature for easy storage when not in use. The "tongs" can be closed and locked in that position, making it more compact and providing protection for the ceramic heating plates.I am truly in love with this iron. It is well built, elegant and super effective, all while making efforts to protect your hair against the process, what more can you ask for?Highly recommend!

I was really looking forward to this, but it fell short of a lot of expectations. I was leary about the mist function because of being told years ago by my stylist that it could damage my hair (so might want to ask your stylist is this is a good fit), but obviously curiosity with the macadamia oil meets mist function got the best of me lol.This definitely did a good job at straightening my hair.. however, no better than my $60 straightener :( I wanted something luxurious, darn it!It looks cool, and the presentation box is gorgeous; velvety lined, with a shiny, heavy weighted case that is magnetic-- *that* is what catches the eye to make it look like a great gift. However, skip this so called misty straightener; more below.I see that someone else noted issues with the mist function. Well, I did get it to work okay, but wasn't loving how it was going on my hair. The oil that comes with it? Absolute garbage! Another disappointment. I originally started with 3 stars, but then I forgot the part of the highlight of this product was to be able to use the mist oil, and that definitely fell short of expectations.Overall, skip this, and go for one of their non mist straighteners if you're in love with the brand.

First off, I am a male and am not embarrassed using a hair straightener especially when it comes to achieving great spikes. My hair is very fine and have had problems with lift my entire life. In order for my hair to spike and stay up, my stylist must run thinning shears through my hair but still, by the time I get to work in the mornings it tends to fall flat. I have tried gels, pomade, waxes but nothing ever holds. I finally did some research for tips to find out how other guys get great lift and the majority of them recommend using a straightener.Incredible!! What a world of difference the LumaBella has made with my thin, fine hair. I can run my hand through my hair countless times and it will not go flat.The LumaBella heats up in only 30 seconds and automatically turns off after 60 minutes. There is a hinge-lock for safe storage to protect the ceramic plates but I wish there was a loop at the end of the device so I could hang it up. There are 5 heat settings ranging from 300F to 450F to accommodate all hair types from damaged, fine to normal and difficult to straighten thick hair.The Macadamia Conditioning Treatment has a nice subtle scent and I have no issues with the rubber stopper in the cool mist reservoir but you do need to give it more of a tug than one would expect. This is assuring as it shows me there is a good seal. I was pleasantly surprised to read in the care guide you can substitute the conditioning treatment with distilled water but avoid tap water as the minerals can clog the mist generator.
