Another Great Film from Sebastian Gutierrez Hits The Mark
While not quite as compelling as his recently produced "Hotel Noir", the Girl Walks Into A Bar is a modern Noir style send-up with more delightful performances from filmmaker Gutierrez' outstanding ensemble cast. Filmed against the night time underworld of the Los Angeles bar scene, even Raymond Chandler couldn't have done any better with all of the twists and turns of a not so serious crime type drama, involving undercover cops, purse snatchers and heist artists, and the in-crowd out for a good time.Don't miss the always compelling performances of Carla Gugino, Danny Devito, and Rosario Dawson, who can always be depended on to deliver a delightful character study romp in a Gutierrez directed film. As always, the work of filmmaker Sebastian Gutierrez is more focused on atmosphere and character study than it is plot, with the action seeming to take place in a noir never never land where almost unbelievable characters haunt Chandler's gritty dark side of Los Angeles. But the unbelievably good ensemble cast pull it off with a style and flair consistent in all of their collaborations. A great bonus for Danny Devito fans is thatwhenever he creates ones of his characters it just lights-up the screen. If you like this film try to get your hands on a copy of thehard to find "Hotel Noir" with much of the same cast of characters. It's one of the greatest modern noir style outings of all time.

Strange story + 0 endearing characters = why was this film made?
Some films tell an epic story. Some films are odd but have at least one endearing character. This was neither. Although it did have naked ping-pong.The acting and production values were good but the film left me bemused and wondering why it was made.

Very *very* well acted.
Which is good because the story wasn't as good. It was just following around some people all night. Vaguely interesting and I did watch the entire thing but not much meat.Good thing they had excellent actors.

It was just OK.
It has potential and has some good actors as well. Lacked some directing and some creativity. It was there but not quite what I expected. Hard to explain...

My kind of movie
Great cast, fun characters, and quirky, interconnected stories. What more do you need. If you enjoy this you should also check out "Women in Trouble" followed by "Elektra Luxx.".
